So last night I went over to Brian (thefatkid)'s house and Andrea and I treated them to steak dinners from Texas Road house. It was Yummmy!!
about 2am at my house Andrea got sick and about 4am at Brian's House people started getting sick.
We ate at about 8:30pm Anyone had any exp. with this kind of stuff.
I'm the only one that didn't get sick and I'm the only one that didn't eat the House salad. (pretty sure it's the house salad).
I have a letter in to Roadhouse corporate and the health dept. The manager at Texas Roadhouse seems to be blowing smoke up my ass about what he has done about it. "threw all the lettuce away, contacted the health dept., and the restaurant's insurance company". A little much if you ask me. I wanted to hear "go to the doctor concerning this matter and if it is some type of germ or what ever we can do something about it." Am I wrong?
if denver is anything like boulder it will take the health inspectors at least a week to get out there unless there are a lot of complaints on the same day of food poisoning.
that and depending on what caused it, it could take up to 12 hours for it to affect you once it hits your small intestine, especially since protein takes the longest to break down so spends more time in the stomach... usually stuff hits you in your small intestine, so it would be hard to say yada....
that and its a texas roadhouse manager.... you really think he is concerned? he is going to offer some gift cards and thats about it...
I got food poisoning from Tommy Knockers in Idaho Springs a couple years ago, i didn't feel it until the next morning when I woke up (but I am a very heavy sleeper, and will not wake to anything most days).
I never brought it up with Tommy Knockers, however i ended up going wheeling that day anyway (day after the bill more run, kyle and I ran yankee hill in the snow). Puking, runs, etc. whatever, you name it.
After that I was literally bed ridden for 3 days (sunday PM, then mon-weds). I got up to go to the bathroom, and that was it. I didn't go see a doctor or anything like that, and IMO it would be a waste of your time as well unless it's severe for more than 3-4 days. Not much you can do about it except let it work through your system, or have your stomach pumped (which is $$$$)
I've had food poisoning a couple of times and it pretty much goes exactly as you describe - 6-12 hours later stomach is roiling and you're going to throw up. 6-12 hours after that you're fine. But it affects different people differently, and it also depends on the kind of food poisoning. Some things won't hit until they've gone through your stomach, and those usually have much longer effects, up to three to five days. Food poisoning and ultra-fast flues have some different symptoms, including whether or not there is a (significant) fever.
yeah, I wouldn't bother with the Doc.. just eat what you can, drink a shit ton of water (you'll get dehydrated) and rest.. that's about all you can do.
I got it now too! I was feeling nausious about 12am last night and made a b-line to go practice my dinosaur mating calls (brian's term). OMG it sucked. every joint in my body aches now and I have no stregnth.
So I think it was the steak. we all had it, all were cooked med (bloddy) and I'm gonna blame it on that. Holy shit did it suck for about 12hours. Still achy and weak but ok otherwise.
Are they doing anything for you guys? Geeze that sucks. Usually food poisining really is gone within 24 hours. Thus the reason I wonder if Nate had something else. But if all you had it, it had to be the food because no way can a virus make you all sick THAT fast. It has to incubate for a few days.
My after effects are due to a difficult time of rehydration. The first day killed, second I should have made a better effort to hydrate and the third would have not been an issue.
Same here. I was hurting because of hydration issues. Now my kidneys are hurting and my pee is more on the brown side. They are working overtime. So I have been drinking tons of Cranberry juice to flush them.
