On a mission...

Hey guys so I am on a mission for a rear drive shaft on my 07 taco. I called yota yard up yesterday and they told me they did not have any. So my question is what other junk yards that may have it should I call? I don't have the cash to have mine rebuilt at the moment nor the $600 for one from the factory.

x2

So Bolder Driveline quoted me 150 - 200 over the phone but they say they have never done a 07 tacoma yet and Pepe from All-Pro gave me a number of a buddy of his in CA that said 300-350 for a custom steel driveshaft.

One more thing... If I drooped my driveshaft off to Bolder Driveline is it ok to drive my truck in 4H tell I get the repaired driveshaft or should I just park it? Since I think I will just go that rout once I pick up a new job.

i go to school as a mechanic, we have a computer system that lets you check things like that. people were hearing a howling noise coming from the rear, and it was the drive shaft.

The recall you are thinking of is only for the Tundra. There was a problem with one of the yolks being too soft. FWIW if you had a tundra and wheeled it the yolk would have broke the first time off road. Only 1% of production was affected.

I have done that several times, but I have an antiquated POS, not some computer-controlled-Starship-Enterprise like yours.

It drives kinda strange in FWD. I guess the best way to describe it is like a really bad FWD car - torque steer, wheel hop, all kinds of crazy stuff.

Thats some signature material right there. To bad I don't have a antiquated POS or I would use it. Well as soon as I get a new job that is on my list of things to do with my first check.

This place in Albuquerque claims to have one for $110. Shipping couldn't be more than $20....
