Steering Rack

What is the best way to tell if your steering rack is shot? I took the truck in for an alignment and they told me they would not align it because there would no point since the tie rod is bad and the rack is close to gone. I've noticed it leaking a bit.

Anyone have a link for buying a rack either new or remanufactured?

Anyone have a link for a write up on replacing it?

Thanks

Ive got a rack for an 01-04 taco with rod ends for sale- all was great when I removed it save for a tear in one of the boots, truck had 50K miles.....$100 bucks

Let me know if you want it. Ill be in the Denver area next week.

Cant help with the other questions though since mine came out along with all the IFS, so it never really got "replaced" like you are doing.

I believe the rack is the same from 95.5-04
