Ouray, Co 7-31-08

Today we went to Yankee Boy Basin, and over Imogene Pass to Telluride, then came back through Ophir Pass. (On the trip to CO yesterday, the new BFG KMs were smooth enough at 75mph to read a book )

And thanks again to Jamie for letting me ride shotgun, and to everyone else we met up with up there. Good times! Even if the hostess didn't wanna hear anything about it...

No, he's fine, I saw pics of him wheeling afterward. They said no major damage or injuries or anything! I just wanted to hear from him wtf happened. They said it was on a fairly steep and long downhill, and it just came off, bounced around, ran over his hood while passing him?

Here's Sy's pics
http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j1.../Colorado8108/

He said it happened pretty much like you posted, the wheel just came off...no tire changes for a couple months! He stole a lug or two from the other wheels, then found some replacements in Ridgeway (I think)

He leaned in the fenderwell to check for damage and without thinking put his hand on the rotor when he was going to look behind it. Pics on the second page shows the burn

That sucks, no vibration or anything before it came off? I wonder if someone decided they wanted his wheels/tires and got scared off before removing all the lugs or something?

IIRC, he said the steering response was weird just before it happened. Once he retrieved the wheel, he put it back on, the holes weren't fubar-ed too bad. He was surprised the sheetmetal on the truck wasn't damaged more than it was.

Very nice pics! Man that sucks about the dodge.

I`m planning a trip to Moab & Ouray in a couple months. Was Black Bear open? Last year it was closed most of the season. Imogene is really cool, highlight of last years trip.

You stay in Gunnison?-that little cabin looks like a place near Gunnison.

We stayed in Ouray, and Black Bear was open. Both Imogene and Hurricane Passes were really calm this time...barely a breeze.
