Makin' Bacon-8/24/08

Myself, Josh, Barry, Rick, and Justin ran Die Hard this morning. It was a great run with a little bit of carnage ( ) that started with me putting the Geap in a strange spot on the "hard line" in the beginning...

So, I'm sitting here on my side thinking "this could get ugly" when everyone around is yelling "snake, snake, snake"! So, I have one rattlesnake on the ground below me, and then Justin sees another one right in front of me and takes off after it!!! He caught it....

This did not help my situation, neither did ripping my passenger door off the hinges, it doesn't look too bad now, had Barry run over it to flatten it back out a little...

Justin taking the other way (good decision!)...

Josh deciding that he would prefer the "bacon" look on his driver's side...

Then Josh decided that just wasn't enough carnage, so he went ahead and layed it over on the waterfall...this could have gotten ugly, but fortunately didn't do too much additional damage...

Rick's XJ...

Here are a couple pics of Josh's rig when we got back to the parking area...

Anyway, that's all we got (everyone but Rick forgot cameras). Had a great day with a great group and anyone who has not wheeled this trail needs to check it out, it is definately "challenging" to say the least!

Thats why I ask myself why would anybody start building a crawler out of a shiny bling bling Tacamma,Geap, etc. if all of them will eventually end up in the raisn club.Everybody save yourself and turn back before you end up like Joshy here. ......Welcome aboard

Die Hard I ran once last year, and I'd say, probably is the trail I want to wheel the most is TM. Very technical and it will get your attention. One rock/climb after another and lots of diff rocks to find.

Pile of crap

Great Pic's, who broke the shaft, and mike you might want to get your buggy back on the trail before you have nothing left of the family truckster.

The reason, my Rasin promoting friend, is that most of slowly built up to where we are. I had no idea when I first swapped the truck that it would see what it sees. Plus, I really like A/C and not having to trailer my junk................for now
Now, if I were to build another rig, knowing what I know now, it would be a Rasin to begin with. That is of course unless there is a specific purpose for building a bling bling crawler.

Justin broke a D60 shaft in a notch ane my juggy works awesome....what buggy? On that trail it really was probably just as good as the buggy (no big waterfalls) except for the tires and lack of beadlocks...Interco still blows bawls! If I wouldn't have lost that bead, I think I would have driven that line, I was basically already over it when the bead let go and tire slid into the notch. Oh well, we'll see how she does next time. After that obstacle, I walked everything else without incident, so I really can't complain. I forget how much fawking fun that trail is, you definately have to drive non-stop...makes CD seem like a power line road.

Barry, thanks for showing everyone how it's done, let's run it again when it gets a touch cooler! Have any spare 8 lug "rollers" laying around so I can put my beadlocks and "reds" on the Juggy?

If you put those red labels on the juggy your buggy will be doomed to forever being "under construction"

Hey, Thanks for the phone call about going wheelin, I was to hung over from watching the race Saturday night. But Dan and I finished my new skid plate install Friday night, man I need to get a plasma cutter that is by far the best tool I've ever used. Thanks to Dan for letting me use his. No more plastic junk for a skid plate.

Would have really liked to run that trail, but had commitments in the White Tanks. I am getting really good on almost flopping on easy trails. Jim says a rollover while loading the trailer is coming.
Rattlesnakes would surely make getting stuck more exciting.

That is buffed out! I actually started straightening with a wood block, about 10 swings with an 8lb. hammer later and I decided to skip the block!

Some of my best "body work" has been done with a 10 lb. sledge and or a crowbar!

Hey Fauk off, I wheeled 1 day (sorta), then spent a day trying to figure out why my junk wasn't working, and 1 day prerunning where ever my 2wd would take me. So I wheeled as much as Jeep Guys Prius.
