here's a message I sent to the forest service reguarding Houston Mesa camp ground

"Hi,
I just stayed up at your campground this weekend for the first time. I must say it was a very clean, well kept camp ground. However at $18 dollars a night to just have a parking spot with no hook up is a bit steep. But when I went to take a shower I couldn't believe it! I had to pay to take a shower....quite the disappointment. I can't understand why for $18 dollars a night a shower can't be had without paying more. To say the very least I will not be back to that facility but I felt the need to send this letter because not only did I find this ridiculous but the the 3 other groups that where up there with me felt the same.

Sincerly,
Bob Knapik

The falls are truely doable, just need to hit the right line. There was a light rain which made it less grippy. We all got the fronts up pretty easily, but the rear tires just wanted to slide towards the edge. Josh got real close to making it happen, the springpack retainer was just enough to hang him and slide the rear over. I may be willing to give it another go next spring, but that's a haul to do it any sooner for me. Next time I 'd like to camp right off the trail so we could play at will and not really have to drive anywhere.

That fall is tough and intimidating with the big drop off to the passenger side.

I made it up clean earlier this summer. I took the line tight against the drop off, with the rear tires starting down on the lower ledge right along the edge. This way the driver rear climbs just before the passenger so nothing hangs up on the taller passenger side ledge.

Nice. Josh ended up over to the side like you went up, but the spring retainer kept catching. It was slick enough so that there wasn't enough traction to pull it past the retainer. I was closer to the wall and it just was not hooking up to pull it up. No worries, I'll make it another day.

I am sure with another chance you will be able to pull it off.

I noticed the picture with the blue taco (assuming thats Josh) - the extra long wheelbase of those trucks looks to be a hinderance too. From the first pic, it looks like he has to climb two ledges at the same time nearly.

Time for some real bias ply tires!

As for the tires, they performed every bit as well as others on the run. Of course, I can only speak for the trucks/people who ran the trail and weren't home on jack stands making vroom vroom noises while they were dreaming of wheeling. With a couple rather large slices in at least 2 of the tires, I'm not sure how much, longer I'll get to keep wheeling these.

I get superior traction in any weather conditions as long as it doesn't leave the garage!!!

I'm sure they work as good as MTRs, or other radial tires but once you get a set of tires designed for crawling you wont go back to anything less.

I know. My reponse was mainly directed to the individual who has had more varieties of tires on his truck while on jack stands than I've had period. I'll keep running these until it's just not pheasable to do so, then I'll be getting a more mainstream offroad tire.
