Chivo Falls

Went out to Chivo on Sunday. Attendants were Gilbert(White Explorer), Dan(Red XJ), Jake(you should know him in the orange thingy), Bernie(Red TJ), Richard(Red YJ) and myself. Would have posted up for some of you Tucson guys, but it was a spur of the moment trip.

"Broke" this U-Joint on the way up Redington

Richard on the Chute

Gilbert on the Chute

Again

Gilbert down the trail a ways

Looking towards the falls

The falls

Random stuff

Going up the wash towards the ponds

At the ponds

Back at 3-Feathers, had to take one more line

Broken piece

Pile of crap

I will repost what I said before. I have NEVER seen a Spicer 1310 literally break from shear torque. I run all sealed Spicers so I can't add grease. It ran out of grease cause the angle and I forgot to change it after the dunes. It never did actually break. I drove on it for 3 miles. And 1410 is too big. Never seen a 1350 fail under any condition. I also forgot to mention my U-joint right now has 1/16" of clearance to the floor(flat skid son!) I will continue wheeling 1310s till I go with a V8 as I have only ever had one fail and have atleast a 6-pack of them for spares at all times.

Oh yeah, pretty sure no one good makes a 1410 output for a 231 t-case anyway. That's the equivalent of putting a 1410 yoke on a D30, just stupid. Translation, let me break my t-case instead of a driveshaft

I also run 1310s.over 10 years,v-8,tires as big as 42's to red label 39.5's no failures.Any breakage I have seen on others has been from binding.7.17 axle gears do help that alot though.

May be fine for a light weight jeep/buggy but I'll sick with 1410 for my rig.
Another nice part of a 1410 is more angle

can we also keep in mind that after the initial failure, which was caused by overrall glamis abuse and sand... that mil-house said fuck it and drove another 2 and a half miles without the u-joint completely grenading? as far as I know the U-joint still has not been removed completely from driveshaft even with multiple bludginings with a 3lb sledge.
