Operation Cherrybustinization complete - Elvis 12/15/2007

Well, I guess the only thing to say is

I'm hooked, hope the money tree doesn't go tilt. Thanks to all of those who showed up, it was a beautiful day to get out and play. I really did want go down another trail, but I'm sick as hell and was really feeling it, however there was no way I was going to wuss out of the run completely. I listened, learned and paid attention (for the most part) and came back with only mud and a huge ear to ear grin! It was good seeing people I hadn't seen in years and meeting new folks, and a huge thanks to 'stroke and Stevie Dub for larnin' me up some.

I took only a few pics, I was busy arm wrestling the steering wheel the bulk of the time. I foresee an ARB and ram assist here very soon... Anyhow, here's a few that I took:

Dat's a lot of trucks and one Jeep...

Going up!

A bunch of us were denied on this obstacle, but even the DAN (me) gave it a shot. The ground at the base was LOOSE.

T-Bob Falls. Everyone went up.

Tristan flogging the squeeze!

I got a few more, but these were the best of what I took. Great fun, I'll be back for more!

Mike

Myself, only Elvis then hung around and BS'd a bit. A few others went on an did something else, dunno what exactly they decided on, I was a bit on the foggy side at that point. A handful also left right after Elvis.

I remember knocking down some Nyquil after getting home, making this thread and then waking up on the couch this morning. I hate head colds.

Hey Mike, glad you had a fun time get'n some learning in. The group was big at 17 or so trucks, but after the entrance obstical we seemed to move along quite well. With quite a few new folks it was one of the larger turn outs in years. We exited on Box Canyon Rd to the area between Box Canyon and the "Y" turn off. Some decided to call it a day and headed back out through Box Canyon. Some others went off towards Martinez. And 4 of us went off to Axle Alley. No major carnage, Jeep Guy (who can be also know known as Token, lol) lost a sidewall right before the big fall, but other wise we went through unscathed. I was able to walk the fall, while it just wasn't in the cards for the others yesterday. After a few hang ups and a tire change we exited AA and then left through Box Canyon. I didn't take any pics yesterday as the camera was at home, so hopefully others will load theirs up as I saw a lot of digitals.

Good day, much fun once again. I look forward to the future trips out.

Yeah, really clean. I liked it as well.

What was that car audio place you (merman) mentioned? The same place Grumpy goes to? I realize I can spend money elsewhere on the dirtball, but I really like a good sounding system...

Sure....just call my agent in India at notmyfaultinsurance.com

Had a blast yesterday!!! Elvis is always good, but AA was kick ass! I thought my only carnage was that damn MTR but when I got home I realized my driver's side corner was fouked! That rock that got kicked up on that video from AA bent the tub and the body armor up and now I can't open my tailgait. I'll post up a pic of it tomorrow. I think I can bend it all back with a winch though...I hope. I just need to find someone around here with a winch.

There were two groups behind us... There was mention of someone being broken in the group right behind us, the third group was some other Toyotas.

Looking at Dan's pictures of that crack off the first obstacle, it didn't feel like the dirtball was leaning that far. Must have been all the wheeeeeeeeeee and Faux finally saying "DRIVER STOP!."

I learned a lot in a short period, curious to see what I've retained next time out.

Yep, run them really low until the sidewalls break in. I ran mine at 5/4 until them started looking really low, now I run 7/5 and they look at street pressure, but fold around stuff and hook up really well. The sidewalls are badass, and I'm sure you noticed they actually hold the line instead of sliding off stuff. I've seen way too much same/same comparison(WB/width/pressure/weight) from my Bias Creepy's to 39" Iroks and it's night and day. Can't wait to get some 40" stickies

This one is my favorite.

"Where am I?"
"Before or after I said stop?"
"Dunno"
"Well, you're somewhere like this, really, stop."
"Stop?"
"DRIVER STOP!"
"ok, now what?"
"You're done, go over there"

dude!!

...the only thing keepin' you off the roof was the rock on the outside of the front tire! Anytime that truck is pulling a rear tire with that much air is dicy at best.

And, it looks kinda wierd to not see a $1000 in tubing on the outside! Ya gonna do an interior cage?

It really didn't feel that bad. Faux was watching and made sure I didn't go over, but everybody said it was close, so I guess it was close.

Yeah, a ton of plans including a cage. Executing the plans, well, that's another story...

I wouldn't have been as "close" if you remembered where the brake pedal was one of the first 4 times I said to stop!

I was in that last Toyota group, some YT guys. Elvis was a last minute change in our plans, didn't realize we'd hit a traffic jam there. We went on and did the entire Martinez Canyon loop then out through Box Canyon. Was my first time out there too... had a blast. That group between us had a jeep that snapped a rear U-joint on that first rock in Elvis. He was front wheel drive only... we had to move on.

Nice! How'd the runner do through Elvis?......... didn't look like you had any trouble when you passed us.
