Bye Bye Tacoma :-(

Well, it is a sad, sad day today. I bid my final farewell to my 1995.5 Tacoma Xtra cab daily driver. I bought it new off the showroom floor, and it has served me very well. But, the headgasket has been blown for over a year (for the second time), and it started making a knocking sound that sounded like a bad rod bearing. It got much worse on Thursday, and I decided to trade it in before I couldn't drive it to a dealership, while I could still get something out of it. Unfortunately I had to leave my ARB Bullbar and rims/tires on it because I didn't have stock ones to replace them with, and had limited time before a rod came through the side of the block. I figured that I have enough 4 wheel drive vehicles (another Tacoma under the knife for SAS, and a 73 FJ40 Land Cruiser), and that I wanted something more sporty, and with more creature comforts. So I started looking for another Mustang. To make a long story short, I ended up with a 2005 GT350 Mustang. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but it would've been harder to get financing on an older model with more milage, especially with only my trade to put down as a down payment. So, here are some pics:

I took it in for a frame inspection a couple of weeks ago, and they said that when it came in, they immediately were sure that it would fail. They were really surprized to see that it was one of the cleanest frames that they've looked at. Other than some surface rust on the under side, it was totally solid. I guess that I just take too good care of my stuff......lol

Thanks for the congrats....I really like it so far. Its very fast, and in perfect condition. The sad thing is that so far I'm averaging 19-20 MPG, and my 2.7L taco only got 16-19, and this is a 300HP+ V8

My daughter took it really hard though. Here's a pic of her saying good bye to it while I was removing the stereo, amp, CB, scanner, inverter and alarm:

I had to pry her out of it so they could take it away

Sorry about the Tacoma, but the Mustang looks really nice. I had an 02 GT that was almost the same color, it was called Mineral Grey. I manage a good 22MPG in my 92 GT, which is obviously better than my Taco.

Yeah, it probably is only a dealer sticker kit. I didn't see anything under the hood that was different. But at a stock rating of 300HP/320TQ, It'll be fine for now. I cant ever own a vehicle without modifying it, so that'll change as funds allow. I definately want a set of bullit rims for it. I may do something along the lines of an Elanor body kit. It'll probably get gears and an Auburn Ected E-Locker. Of course, the mandatory off-road H pipe, exhaust, and long tube headers. Eventually I want to do a supercharger or turbo. It just never ends with these things.....

A set of Gears really gives a good seat of the pants feel in the Mod Motored Cars, Bullitt Wheels will look sweet on there and those Eleanor Body Kits really look nice too.

Yeah, the mourning period is about over now that she's gotten to ride in the Mustang some more. It's like that Bold Moves commercial that Ford had for the 2005 Mustang when it first came out. Here it is on StangNet:

It sure is fun to . The grin hasn't left my face since I've left the showroom
