Gas-O-Line

i know everyone's tired of talking about it, but i am curious...at what price, per gallon will you either refuse to pay or not be able to afford gas anymore? i think if it goes to $4.50 gal i'm gonna have to buy a scooter...or a ski mask i can see it now..."this is a stick-up!!" clerk: "all the money is locked in the safe.." "i don't want money you fool...i want GAS!!" lol seriously though...i'm wondering at what price will shit absolutely hit the fan? you know...people lighting shit on fire like OSU just lost to Michigan. doesn't IRAQ owe us like 10 billion barrels of oil for letting them get to vote or something? maybe they think we renigged on the deal if their chioces of candidates and voting system are like ours. (what's the point?)

what is everyone spending a week to keep mobile? i'm thinking i spend approx. $75-$90 a week. i buy only premium fuel. this includes commuting and runabout in the evening & on weekends. i can't immagine trying to fuel a fullsize V-8...or a diesel for that matter.

I hear that some financial guru's say we will have $4 by the end of summer '08 and $5 by end of '09.

I just bought an '08 Honda Fit - 30 mpg average for the 1st 4,700 miles - to use when I don't need my Taco.

I'll keep the Taco for hunting and camping trips, or to haul my canoe or whatever... but the Fit will work for day to day stuff.

The Taco feels like it's on stilts after driving the Fit...

Happy Turdsday!

just got my gas saver back out. have to have decent weather (warm & dry) to drive it. it's not nice or anything...but the top leaks and the heat ain't worth a damn. 91 VW rabbit convertible. 35 mpg even with the gas pedal is touching the firewall 95% of the time! dunno how much longer she's gonna last though. still looking for an older Omni or Festiva.

Our companies policy is pretty much if your gonna be working multiple days anywhere over a hour away we get a hotel, by the time you pay for gas and labor for people driving/riding it's almost always cheaper to get a room and buy us dinner

in either case driving or getting a hotel we pass the cost along to the customers, In the case we drive we charge them a reduced hourly rate from our normal service/install rate

I've been downsized

In a effort to save gas my boss has me driving a 96 Escort instead of the Chevy 1 ton van or Isuzu box trucks I normally drive for any small deliveries/errands

He originally purchased the car for his daughter who is learning to drive but I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a company vehicle the way gas keeps going up

Well, I can't complain too much because I get paid $.48/mi, so it comes out to about $120 per day. It just sucks that I have to pay it out of my pocket until I get my expense check. My company is making some people use cars that they are leasing, or get rentals. I won't do either because I cant fit all of my tools, ladders, parts, etc in the back of a sub-compact. I can't stay out of town for a week at a time, because I'm the only tech in Columbus again, so I have to be available here for service calls too. It'll be nice when I finally get my expense check, and my OT for driving 2 hours each way.

Alcohol hasn't been a reasonable fuel source for years because it has always been at $4 a gallon. With the potential for it to be mass produced for fuel purposes and the market for it, the price could soon be below gasoline. Gas in some places here south of Columbus was 3.95 a gallon for the cheap stuff.

The real problem with alcohol is the use of corn to make it. America provides a lot of food for the rest of the world. When we stop supplying starving nations with food so that we can keep our economy afloat, it could result in terrorism or full on war.

Dad is a chemist and deals with wood, paper and similar stuff. We were talking and he thinks that corn stalks may be useful to create alcohol. I was going to try it, I was going to let him build the still and me refit a lawn mower engine... That project may still be something we want to do.

I was also thinking after we get a still capable of some good alcohol output, I might get a truck with an old 22r to rig for alcohol.

Downfall of alcohol is that it doesn't run well at temps below 50 degrees.
