Over the winter I plan on locking my front and rear with ARB lockers. I've been racking my brain thinking about the best way to handle my off road air needs.
Option 1) ARB compressor: This is certainly the low risk way to go. They'll supply every switch, regulator, hose, etc. that I'll need. I can relax and know that they've figured this out for me. On the downside, it's not a powerful compressor and I'm told that it overheats if you spend the day on the trail then air up each tire. It's not the best solution if you would like to air up tires for more than one truck. From what I read, it seems like you probably wouldn't expect this compressor to last the life of the truck. (Nobody should take offense to this. What the heck do I know, I don't even have one. )
Option 2) CO2 setup and ARB kit from powertank (linked): I'm convinced that CO2 is a nice solution. You can fill tires, you can drive the lockers, it has no noise, it never wears out, and it doesn't mind being used hard (no overheating). I imagine myself having a spare tank to switch in as the first one wears out. The downside of this solution is the "go it alone" factor. Will I have the cool switches on the dash? Do they come with the locker, not the compressor? A nice thing about the full ARB solution is that by not "arming" the compressor you'll never turn on the lockers when you shouldn't. It's like a safety on a gun. Does the CO2 solution have something similar? Am I right in thinking that the second tank won't really be expensive at all because I can share the regulator, hoses, etc?
Anybody that picks out the questions from that and answers them will be my personal Santa. Thanks in advance.
