99 tacoma prerunner 3.4, automatic, SR5, 238,000 miles
So it's a long story but I am at my wits end and am desperate for help to get my truck back on the road.
The other day we loaded the truck and headed out to go camping for the week.
Ten miles from my house the truck lost power, spiked the temp, and started knocking pretty good.
I pulled over at the next exit about a mile away.
The road I was driving on was up hill and 70 mph speed limit, the truck was having a hard time maintaining 60, but I just thought that was because of the huge amount of weight on the truck.
I checked the oil and it looked low, so I let the truck cool down and added four quarts of oil.
So I let the truck cool down the rest of the day and went poking at it the next day. Only to discover that it was actually the antifreeze that had dumped from the engine NOT the oil
So there I am with 9 quarts of oil in a five quart system and only half the antifreeze needed.
I dumped all the oil and changed it with fresh, it looked a little cloudy but not too bad. I had just changed the oil before the trip.
I open the radiator and the block plug and dumped all the coolant and then filled it with water to flush the system.
I also changed the thermostat because the only thing that I can figure happened was that it stuck closed and cause the truck to over heat.
Well all that didn't work and the truck still was running like crap.
So I pulled the left side plugs and they didn't look to bad. A little oil on them but not soaked.
Then we changed most of the hoses coming off the air intake. K&N after market version and cleaned the flap area of the throttle body and the MAF.
Still ran like crap, and the test drive was throwing misfire codes on cylinders 3,4, and 5 and a knock sensor.
Since it threw misfire codes under a heavy load this past spring, and since it was all factory except the plugs we decided to go ahead and put new coils, wires, and plugs on it.
When we did that we discovered that the coil and plug in 4 was fairly wet with oil, part of the ceramic that was facing the bottom of the cylinder looked burnt even.
Now looking down into the cylinder from the spark plug shaft it looks dry in there.
Still running like crap and still throwing the knock sensor code.
The running like crap is described as trying to die when you push the gas, no power, sounding like a Harley engine with the off beat rumble.
I really really need help here, I am in over my head, on disabilty so I can't afford to pay someone who knows what they are doing, and at a complete loss as to what to do next to try and fix my stupid ass mistake.
So please help!
What can I do to save my engine??!!

Added 4 quarts too much oil.
Drove 10 miles, downhill and slowly, with HALF the amount of anti-freeze and almost double the amount of oil.
Parts changed so far.
Oil

Thermostat
Plugs
Wires
Ignition coils
Air hoses, had oil residue in them.
Cleaned flap area of oil on throttle body.
Throwing knock sensor code.
