Hello
Needing some help with the body swap from my 02 4wd manual trans 3.4L over to a 99 3.4L auto trans Prerunner.
I plan to use the entire chassis of the PreRunner and swap over my transmissions, transfer case, and front axles
I have the bed off the truck now and am not sure the proper steps to remove the cab.
If anyone has performed a task like such please help
Thanks!

"There have been at least two successful Double Cab onto XtraCab transplants to date:

(1) 2004 Double Cab onto 1997 4X4 XtraCab

This transplant was done by TTORA member 'deserttaco' (Steve Nivens). Pictures and some descriptions of the process can be found at his website:

Sounds straight forward to me though.

Swap the body, cut/weld some mounts if needed. (Don't think you do)

Follow the guides to swap the trans from auto to manual. Unbolt auto, bolt flywheel, clutch, drill fro clutch master, install manual transmission and bolt in your lines. Wire your park neutral safety switch. Then find correct ECU year 99/Manual Trans, or run with CEL.

Bolt up your 4x4 knuckles, CV axles, and front diff. Install the drive shaft and done.

Guys,

Chris sent me a message earlier this week, and I finally had some time to sit down today and see what I can do to help. BTW, Thanks Chris! I can't believe that it's been over 5 years since I've been on this board. All of the old links that I posted for my swaps are dead. I abandoned my personal website so all of the pics no longer exist on that server...

I installed an '04 double cab body onto my existing 97 Extra cab frame. There are some things you need to be aware of. so I'll do my best to help any way you can. Let me know what questions you have.

You guys are funny.... legend? hardly... Been there done that? sorta....

What people don't realize is that I'm just a cheapass, who put an amazing amount of time and money into the original truck (I bought my 97 Brand Spanking new), and then got married, then had kids, and outgrew the extra cab. It didn't make sense to sell it and start over... Who has time for that. So the idea was hatched to do the cab swap. All in all there were a few minor issues, but all of that is resolved now. I still have the truck, and actually in June, I drove it out to Pismo Beach from Phoenix. Besides terrible gas mileage, it did fantastic! Even taught the kids how to drive a stick! Super easy with the crawler.

Hopefully the OP will respond with his questions so I can try to help him.
