3.4L - 5VZ-FE Valve Cover Compatibility

I tried searching, but I only found stuff on the 4cyl.

I recently purchased a semi-high mileage 99 ext. cab. It has 375k on it and the valve covers were leaking so I thought I'd take an hour out of my Saturday to replace them. Of course it is never as easy as you'd assume! The previous owner must have over tightened the valve covers and cracked them. Driver's side looks like it was repaired at some point, but the passenger side lost an "ear" when I removed the bolt.

Anyway, for the 3.4L V6, there are "ribbed" valve covers and "smooth" valve covers. Are there any compatibility issues? I'd love to just grab a good set off any 3.4 in the junkyard.

Two different styles. I think the ribbed ones ran until early 99 and then the flat ones went after 1999 until 2004. Not sure if anything would prevent one from using the newer ones. I assume Toyota found a cheaper casting method in early 1999.
