Spot light to "useful" light.
Have done this with many flashlights as i find most of your run-of-the-mill flashlights have an utterly useless "spot" light type beam- bright hotspot that will ruin your night vision, with poor spill light to light up a larger area.
Thought maybe it would useful for you guys who need to "broaden" and smooth out the beams on your back-up or underbody lights.
2 items that really work well are Satin Scotch Tape and also Writeright(http://flashlightreviews.com/reviews/writeright.htm
Either of the above, depending on the application and how much is applied, may eliminate the need for multiple lights in places such as for the underbody or on bed bars as im sure alot of people end up using the "budget" lights from wal-mart etc.... lights that usually end up having more of the spot-type beam.
