Hi-Lift

Well, about two weeks ago, my co-worker, who owns a Jeep, wanted to know if I was interested in selling my Hi-Lift. I said what? and also going through my mind...one side said "why can he not buy one new himself?" and the other said "Cool, any excuse to get something newer!"....well my better judgment got the better of me.

I sold it to him for $40.
So now I needed to look into a new Hi-Lift.
First thing that came to my mind, the UBER-cool X-treme Hi=Lift.

Fast forward to today, I unboxed a very long and heavy item and inside.

I transfered my WABFAB slider adapter.

I bought it w/ a new red handle holder for a little pricy $150 (includes shipping).
To keep it from being taken off my truck, I am going to hold off mounting on my bumper for now.

My current mount is just two butterfly nuts.

I have been lucky that no one wanted to take my old Hi-Lift.
So I am going to figure out how to lock it to the bumper (without buying anything new).

This what I did...
Original Hi-Lift Mount for my CBI Bumper

Drilled another hole, deburr and paint.

Hi-Lift X-treme locked and loaded.

The new look for the rear.

HOLY CRAP! ...that thing's tall!
Nice simple security solution, though. My suggestion wouldn't have been quite as simple, but along the same lines.

Yep - - very tall. I now can not enter my garage, without removing it.
I think I will measure the overall height of the truck to see if I will be hitting any low lying things awnings or roofs.

Oh, what type of security suggestion would you have done?

Hahahaha....thread jack.

Oh BTW...Total height with jack mounted on bumper 91 inches (7 feet 7 inches)...with no one inside the truck.

My highest point is my CB antenna at 95 inches (7 ft-11 in).
I think I need to add a note inside to remind me of my height clearances.

Or, I could fly the American flag into Mexico, when I cross to visit one of our manufacturing sites.

I would have gone with slightly wider, and longer bolts. I would have drilled through the bolts, and put the lock through that way.

Issue with doing that is considering the large gaps on the bolts all you need is a hacksaw to cut em and run off with the lift. As is with 2 bolts and a hardened steel lock... much more complex in the eyes of the opportunist.

Try using the military rifle lock cables if you can get them. Basically a 2 foot length of hardened steel cable with a loop on each end. Designed to run through the eject port of an M16 and out the mag well, but small enough to go through or around a lot of crap and hard as hell to cut off. They are just few bucks at a PX or a surplus shop.
