I have a 2007 Highlander...it's super weak since it's a v4. I want to lift it 3" and put 30" offroad tires on it with bullet hole rims. The Highlander has ZERO lift kits other than the universal body kit or leveling kit forgot which one. What do you guys think I should do when lifting it??
If no one makes a kit for it then you will have to engineer and machine your own if you want to do it. Doubt it is worth your time for the speed bumps.
My wife and I have an '08 with the V6 and it hauls ass (270 H.P.), but I haven't (seriously) considered lifting it. You cannot tell me you bought that thing with the intention of lifting it to offroad or whatever you plan on doing with it.
I'm 17 yrs old and I have 5 grand that I've worked my ass off to spend...my mom is fucking crazy about safety and gave me her car, hence the v4 and the Highlander...so off my ass please. I'm asking for tips not for shit on my question. She also won't let me buy any other car...or sell any of the cars we have.
Thanks.
I think everyone here can all agree that, to our knowledge, no one makes a lift kit for your Highlander. You are attempting to lift a vehicle that has little to no aftermarket support (as in lift kits, etc). So, not only would it then be (more) unsafe, it would be potentially costly to lift. There is no question in my mind that a lift kit *could* be put onto your Highlander. How much money do you want to spend?
This reminds me of my days working at an offroad shop...punk ass kids with various cars, like Subaru for example, would come in and ask "How much for a (____ inch) lift kit?" Just for kicks I would ask if they wanted chrome or black. Well, it turns out there is an Australian company that builds lifts for Subaru cars. Go figure. I think you should ask your mom if it's ok to lift and wheel her Highlander, then go from there.
If they won't let you take those 5 g's to buy a weekend wheeler cause they keep such close tabs on you, why would you bother lifting the Highlander since you won't be able to go use it anyway? :2cents:
Easy Easy.....I will admit that I never thought I'd hear about lifting a Highlander but I've seen a monster truck with a stingray body on top of it so anything is possible. However cztheman is right. I picked up a 1982 toyota 4x4 for 3k with some mods on it. For an example here's a beautiful 81 4x4 for 2k in San Diego. Here's the link if it's close by. Looks like a solid buy but you'd have to go look at it and see if that's what you want. I'd definitely take it if I didn't already have one. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/2135385720.html
Yeah I noticed that right off the bat. We all knew what he meant I'm sure. But I'm really suprised nobody mentioned that it is a unibody vehicle, so that "univeral body kit" which I'm assuming is a body lift, won't work.
Oh well. I honestly wouldn't lift a Highlander just because the ride is so nice to begin with.....but I understand why a Guy would want to. When I drove my mom's Highlander I felt like a yuppie unic. Its not even a truck really but it is a nice lifted Camry LOL.
Man 5k will get you a badass rig. 3k will get a offroad capable rig lol. There's one for sale here in 29 for 4k that's heavily modified....I thought about it but I want to build my own honestly.
Be glad they gave you a car at all, some of us didn't get shit :lmao:.
Save your money. By the time you're out of the house, you'll have more than enough money to get a truck like you want, and possibly enough wisdom by then to know better what you want and why.
First two words outta my mouth....CAR WASH. Other than that though it's not bad looking and at least that guy accepts the fact that a highlander is just not made to do offroading.
i would probably lift it with a crane.and then drop it. and then take the 5000 you worked hard for and buy a tacoma that already has a little bit done to it.
