I hear the Blair Witch Project is scary. I haven't seen it myself, but everyone tells me that it's scary because of how good the actors in the movie portray really being scared.

Supposedly it's creepy.

I also hear that the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre from the 70's is scary as hell.

Most horror movies that I've seen pretty much suck and aren't scary at all.

-2001 Toyota Tacoma Stepside SR5 5-Speed 4X4 Bedliner, Tonneau Cover, Amsoil EA Nanofiber Air Filter, and Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 265/75/16 Rubber, ScanGauge II.. and new Frame from Toyota Rust Recall.
-2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT, Diamond Graphite/Graphite, Navigation, Aero Package, Premium, Brembo Brakes with Project Mu B-Force Pads, Z-Tube and Amsoil EA Air Filter, 3/8" Motordyne Plenum Spacer, 18" Wheels w/ Falken Fk-452's 245/40/18 - 255/45/18

I didn't find The Ring all that scary. The original and the re-make of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre are my pics.

...By the way
The Ring, and The Grudge are both total pieces of crap, and are not scary at all, what so ever. Those two movies would be a complete waste of time, money and effort. The Ring was boring and predictable, and The Grudge's "scares" were laughably stupid, and totally UNscary.

My votes would be:
  • The ORIGINAL Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • House of 1000 Corpses
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • Event Horizon
  • Nell

There's also this little known 80's horror flick that used to be my old 1st Date Standby - guaranteed to scare!

I recently saw Skeleton key and really liked it, fairly scary and a nice plot twist.

Yeah - Skeleton Key is the cat's pajamas! Awesome Movie, but I wouldn't really call it a horror movie, and I definitely wouldn't lay that one down to try to scare someone who claims to be un-scarable.

Does "Devil's Rejects" count as a horror flick?

It's a good watch.

Of course if you want to go old school "The Shining" with Jack Nickleson is very scary. The sound of the little boy riding his big wheel on the carpet, off the carpet, on the carpet... Gives me chills as I write this.

Yeah - sorry. LOL.
Difference of opinion I guess.

House of 1000 Corpses didn't really scare me, but it made my wife have nightmares for a week, and I thought it was a good horror movie. Much better than The Ring, and The Grudge.
...I literally laughed at The Grudge. I just thought The Ring was boring, wierd, and VERY predicatable.

I think one thing that matters also in horror flicks is if u see them in the theatre or not. When i saw the Ring in the movies i almost died, when i saw it on my friends 19" tv i must agree that it was stupid. It just so happens that i saw the grudge in theatre also but saw house of 1k corpses on a regular TV.

I totally agree!

I saw The Blair Witch Project in the theatre, and was scared shitless! On a TV screen it really loses something.

I don't know, I guess the older 70's movies still scare me. The original "Exorcist" always scared me, as did the original "Amityville Horror". For me, the new horror movies coming out today seem to rely more on graphic, twisted, torturous deaths rather than sending chills down my spine.
