if there is no lein on your truck, get an estimate for the damage, tell your insurance company, and they will write you a check...you can spend the check on whatever you want...

I got one from the Toyota collision center for over 6,000 but how do I make them (their insurance company) to pay that amount. They are sending out an adjuster in about 40 min.

get a few offroad shops to quote you on how much they would charge for the fab work... that might be good enough for em

it is probably reasonable to assign a value to this work based on the time and materials you spent. the adjuster is coming to minimize the payout, which means he will be looking for things that are on the estimate that do not actually need fixing. if the estimate you have is from a reputable body shop that has worked with your particular insurance company before (which i'm sure is the case if it's the stealership...), you're most likely good. if there is a question regarding your work as opposed to a "professional's," i wouldn't worry. the estimate you got is for a "professional" to restore your truck to what it was before the accident, regardless of how it got to being what it was. don't forget that they will reduce the payout by the amount of your deductible. as long as you don't owe someone (i.e. a bank, toyota financing, etc.), you can spend the money however you want...is the frame tweaked? i've never known about bed damage and repairs like that, but $6k seems high...i'm sure that's the main reason why they are sending an adjuster.

the whole point of the adjuster coming out is so that the insurance company doesn't get presented with a fraudulent or inflated claim. they are in the business of paying out as little as possible. however, they would probably rather pay out the 6k than have to deal with a law suit. if you are unhappy with the results, contact a lawyer...sometimes all it takes is letterhead and they send a check right away.

if they were to repair it they wouild have to put a whole new bed tub, bed side panel, tailgate, ect.

toyota wants 3,500 for just the bed tub

plus the bed hit the cab and dented the piss out of that so...... it adds up. lol i haven't been in a wreck that has cost less than 5,000 with my truck
