I think that's 30-45 minutes from Pizmo. There are a few trails there (Pozo, Garcia Ridge and a couple of others). Garcia Ridge is usually over grown and give people some good pin stripes. Pozo is a lot like what you see there, a fire road. There are some nice stair steps you can climb. The pucker factor is up there since it is a nice drop on both sides.

Using reverse to yank somebody out is a bad idea. Trust me, I've learned the hard way. Get rear tow points and yank them going forward, unless you want to break something.

so, it's better to grenade your whole front diff in the process just to be in a slightly lower gear?? plueeeze.

The gears are also about 30% or more weaker running in reverse.

I admit to being Crazy but I'm not Stupid

notice Dick said 'gears', plural, not just the front ones It has to do with how gears are cut.

I think we turned off 101 onto hwy 58 east but from there I'd have to look at a map...that I don't have right now

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=San+Lu...0.022668&hl=en
here's the turn off from 58 to Pozo rd. but, I vaguely remember turning onto Parkhill Rd a little further up 58.

hit up Bobbinelli for better directions.
