I have a weekend trip planned for Barrett Lake and after searching, I'm not seeing a whole lot of posts with pics or insight. The group going is made up of an assortment of Toyota's with minimal specs of lifts w/ 33's , rear-locker, and sliders.

Appreciate any insight/pics you can share.

Thanks

Trail is usually closed until Early August, probably open earlier this year due to smaller than usual snow fall. Call US Forest Service - El Dorado County 530-647-5415.

I took this trail last year... Absolute blast in my Sammi, had a few interesting moments. Pete Parks took his Tacoma on the trail, and it was fairly tight, and he's a really good driver. His truck is fairly well set up and I would think a minimum for this trail without asking for damage. Trail is fairly short (3.2? miles) but is a great challenge!

Pete's trail report of last year's run:

Here's another trail report I came across:

P.S. I wanna go back on this one with my Taco!

Thanks Mark. I'll have to check it out. I ran across a few random posts mentioning the trail was the equivalent of a mini rubicon....not sure my rig is ready for that. Do you know off hand what Petes running for lift / tires?? Can't seem to locate his member ID.

Pete's TTORA name is TRD4ME/PARKSOFFROAD ...or something like that

on his site www.parksoffroad.com he has all his mod's to his truck...

His lift is the Tough Country 5" drop-bracket using king coil-overs with All-Pro upper a-arms. He has an ARB up front, w/ 33" MTR's. He has skid plates from up front all the way under to the back of the t-case.

The trail has it's challenging moments, and armor would be your friend in your taco; I really enjoyed the trail in the Sammi, great scenery and a cool little campground at the end of the trail (which is also the border to a wilderness area)...lot's of hiking to do from that point-if that's something you may be into. Contact Pete ( pete (at) parksoffroad (dot) com ) if you can't find his user ID to PM him, he'll give you the skinny on whether you should or shouldn't try it!
