Deck Plate?

Hello everyone, Im new to this forum, off roading and mechanicing in general (although Im learning, and Im not afraid to try something). Ive seen alot about deck plates, but I dont understand what they are. Id appreciate it if someone could clear it up for me.

Its a mod done to the airbox. A 3-4" hole is cut in the airbox. A deckplate which has an outer ring with a removable center is glued where the hole is. When the center of the plate is removed it allows for more air flow into the airbox giving a small amount of horse power. If you are driving thru water or dusty conditions you put the center back into the deckplate to prevent water and dust from entering the airbox.

the problem with searching is that there is just soooo much. it can get a little overwhelming.

anywho, yeah, it's newbie certified. it was the first mod i did (2 weeks ago), and was the first time i had used a Dremel. i found my deckplate at a bass boat place, rather than a ski boat place (they didn't have any and told me i'd have better chances at a bass boat place)
