lift for newbie?

I hate to open up this can o' worms, but what kind of lift should I get for my 03 TRD? I'm looking for 3 or 4" (maybe more?) still running stock tires/wheels. I know y'all have some recommendations. Let's say around $1K, including labor....unless I can do it myself(?)...eventually, I'd like to put some larger tires on it (33's maybe?) and some rock sliders, maybe change the diff gearing if necessary. Thanks for any advice in advance. -J

this looks like a good deal http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum...ad.php?t=12192 anything over 3" will be a drop bracket kit which will be expensive and difficult to install, If you go with coilovers they will run $600-$800.00 and you'll still need to lift the rear which will put you into the $1000.00 to $1500 range depending on whether you go with an AAL or new leafpacks. You coul go with a cheap spacer lift but you will not be happy with the ride

can't go wrong with hoes, saws, or camburgs...installation is easy if you turn wrenches...

Update your profile, where are you located? There might be Taco owners in your area that would be willing to help install.

Stay away from spacer lifts.

I have ~3inces of lift, and am running OD 33" tires.

By the way AR15s suck, get a real gun. (.30-06)

You lay out $1K and foot some pizza and beer and some one will help ya.
You'll get $1k worth of lift without paying for labor!

very true...members here are often more than willing to lend a helping hand if food and beer are involved...just make sure to install most of the lift before all the beer is gone...

is urs a v6 or a 4 banger?
for 1k for lift...best that's out there is prob OME...but that's about 2" maybe 2.5" after it settles..(depending on the motor)

what are you planing to do with ur truck? what type of off-roading...

Get a revtek 3" and buy some used 33's from a local tire store. You'll be happy with it and it will cost around $1,000.

Please take some time to research the different lifts out there and then pick what you believe is right for you.

Check out the articles section of my site. the first two articles cover things you need to be aware of, and what type of lifts are out there along with their pros and cons. Secondly you can dig through the tech/faq section (link in the upper right) for write ups on lifts. You can also run searches on the lift you are thinking about, and get even more information on it. All the information is out there, just do a little work, and you'll find it.

My fabtech basic kit was only around the 500 range, and some new tires wouldn't be much more than 500.

I'm sorry, but to truely clear 33s you need at least 4" of lift. 3" will not cut it.

since I'm in Colorado, I plan on doing some rock crawling on the mountain trails. it's a 5VZFE.

whoah! slow down cowboy! I'm not interested in the kind of customization and fabrication involved in an SAS. But I'm gonna check out OME, I keep hearing that. I'm tempted to do coilovers, I like the simplicity.

yeah..sorry..lol you said rock crawling so that's the first thing that came up in my mind...lol

OME is more ment for rockcrawling than some coilovers..
but i would get coilovers and rockcrawl...lol
