The gears everyone is talking about are in your differentials. The differentials transfer power from your drivelines to your axles.

There are several gear ratios available for our trucks, one common ratio is 4.10:1. This means that for every 4.1 revolutions of the driveshaft the axles will turn once.

High gearing is actually numerically lower. Say you have 3.91 gears, your driveshaft will turn 3.91 times for each revolution of the axles, so you go faster at a lower RPM.

For most people, lower gearing is desireable. I am running 4.88:1 gears, meaning the driveshaft turns faster to make the tires go slower, and that's helpful for four-wheeling.
