I have searched the forum and heres what ive come up with. My truck sounds like a ford topaz. Its making a grinding/whining noise (not a loose belt whine) which gets worse when accelerating but is still present when idling. The best way to describe it the topaz.
After searching this site, I have come to the conclusion that the ac belt tensioner pulley bearings are gone due to some muddy conditions and the low position of the pulley. My ac doesnt work due to lack of use and i dont plan on getting it re charged any time soon.
Would you:
a) cut the ac belt off and leave it?
b) buy the new pulley and replace, still have no ac but have a quiet truck?
c) do the above and recharge the ac even though you dont use it?
Im leaning towards option a since im a lazy mofo. Quiet truck, no cash spent, and no shoving my arm between the belts and the fan (well just once to cut the belt off). This noise is annoying the crap out of me.
