I have been looking for some help on my 06 access cab prerunner. The dash panels where the upper and lower dash meet by the fog light switch and power mirrors switch are don't meet correctly. The dealer has replaced the lower dash twice and still no luck. The new panel's snap in but a few days later the lower panel pops back out leaving an 1/8" gap. I have tried to find other people with this problem and have not gotten a lot of feedback. Any help?
could it possibly be something with the upper part of the dash then? maybe something is pushing or bracing the upper dash so they have to use alot of pressure to make the 2 pieces go together, and then it finally just pops out. Does that make any sense?
I'm thinking that the dealer should be the one to make it right.
Don't get rude with them, but you probably want to tell the service writer that you will bring the truck back a hundred times if that is what it takes to get it fixed.
He can only get paid for it one time, so he should be wanting it fixed worse than you do!

I would bring it back as much as it takes. They may not be able to rid the problem completely. If they try to stop fixing it, you need to explain that you bought a toyota because of the excellent finishing job and fitment from the factory. If you wanted that problem you would have bought a ranger or colorado. If they can't get rid of it research lemon laws in your state and possibly try to swap it for another truck. I think in most states 3 times does it, but not sure if something like that would count. Its worth a try though. No new truck should have a problem like that. It will only get worse as the truck ages. Hope this helps www.lemonlawamerica.com www.carlemon.com www.lemonlawhelp.net
check you vin, you may have one of the (partially) hand assembled trucks coming out of mexico. It may not be the dash peice itself but what its trying to snap to.

Yes, because Mexicans can't assemble like the people in Fremont, CA. Toyota holds the same standard for all of their vehicles, not just the Japanese and American built ones. That has nothing to do with it. Take it back again, or try another dealer.

it could be that the truck was one of the first "batches" of trucks, and then they figured out what was wrong, and then redid the next "batch". Just bring it back to the dealership and have them fix it till they get it right. If not, just ignore it.
Sorry for not replying sooner, I have had the truck back at the dealership 5 times now. They have replaced the lower dash 3 times, replaced clips, etc. I have placed threads at tundrasolutions and there are others with this same problem. Right now the dealership is ordering a new lower panel and clips (again) and is coordinating with some kind of service rep from toyota to take a look at the problem. I have found that the far left clip holding the dash in has adhesive backed felt around it to help retain the dash. The dealer has tried this and has not been able to make it work. I am thinking about ordering some extra thick felt from an industrial supply company and seeing if the extra thick felt will create the needed interference between the clip and the mating hole. I will post what happens after meeting with the dealership again. Let me know if you have had any luck fixing yours-
i have the exact same problem! my truck is made here in the U.S. too. i haven't brought it back to the dealer yet, but judging from your account of the situation, i'm not too optimistic that a trip to the service dept. is going to solve the problem
anyhoo it's really just mildly irritating more than anything else. however, if anyone has a solution i'm all ears...or eyes in this case. thanks!
my 05 does the same. going in tomorrow for oil change and having them look at it.
