Arrow Roundeyes LED lights installed

I finally got around to installing my Roundeyes L.E.D. lights for under my truck. They put out a decent amount of light....in the pics posted I have 4 installed right now 2 red and 2 white,of coarse they arent as bright as halogen rock lights but they work for me because I dont have to worry about the lights draining my battery.I will install 6 more eventually so there is light all of the way around my truck.I have the red and the white l.e.d.'s on two seperate switches just in case the red gets overwhelming when night wheeling.

Before anybody says anything about the light not extending much past the body I plan on putting lights in the wheel well as well to put more light outward and near the front and rear diff also.....I am just waiting on my lights......this is what it will look like (taken from Pirate4x4)when finished but with white light also
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showp...1&postcount=21

heres some info on L.E.D.'s http://www.c4x4.com/Tech/LEDrocklights/rocklights.html

check it.

Looks pretty sweet!

Why did you go with red and not just all white?

I am putting in eight whites on one circuit and six reds on another tomorrow. Whites for rocklights, reds for camp/clearance lighting.

also for anybody who wants L.E.D's but cant afford to shell out $400.00 heres some cheaper lights
http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...roduct=ACCENTS

I dont know if they hold the same qaulity as the Roundeyes L.E.D. but it's worth a shot if you are on a budget

Miguel-
Thanks man......I decided to go with red and white L.E.D's because red is supposed to be better on your vision at night, apperently red doesnt over dialate your pupil so you can see things more clearly, and the white helps contrast everything,at least thats my theory.....if not thats why they will be on 2 seperate switches

Wgasa84-
They are pricey but well worth it for so many reasons.

Nelium-

Thanks Tim......wiring the lights are so simple, theres no relays to worry about so it goes quick. I think it took more time to rip out and identify old power leads and switch legs then it did to reinstall the new lights and power leads

Now those are more my price range! Cheaper than the tractor lights that don't work anymore!

Heres the pics of the lights installed under the truck....I siliconed the screws as I attached the lights to prevent water from entering and possibly rusting the inner part of the cab...and yes I know I need to paint my sliders underneath

and heres all of the old wire to my rock lights I pulled out, what a rats nest

those lights apparently are brighter than the Roundeyes L.E.D's and arent sealed so you will have to just silicone around the edge of the cover and you will be okay.....they may have a little more draw but I am sure nothing like the tractor halogen,Walmart,Napa type rock lights

Definetly, I can use the other money for the dual battery setup and not have to worry about it.

I sent the link to the cheaper LED's to Bruce at Roundeyes and asked him to comment on the price difference. Here's what he had to say;

Quote:
Hi Rob,
They are a different LED altogether. They claim 160 degrees dispersion but in reality, itís only about 90 to 100 degrees. They give out a spot/dot more than an even glow.

We use the Luxeon LED. Theirs is a Chinese LED and I believe wonít last the 50000 hours they claim because the circuitry is located under the LED making it thicker and hotter which will kill an LEDís life span. Hence our circuitry/resistor on the wire away from the LED. Basically a stolen product/knockoff from what I was told.

Let me know if you have other questions!
Such that it is...

BTW, I got the eight white Roundeyes LED's in and I am quite happy with them. The light is not as directional or intense as the tractor lights were, but instead I have a nice even puddle of pure white light all around and under the truck. I will try to get some pictures taken when it's both dark and not raining at the same time...

Davis, I was thinking of putting this under my can back for bed work lighting. How many you think would be sufficient to light up the bed?

You may want to contact Bruce at Roundeyes.....depending on what color you choose my guess is you are wanting white led's...I would say 2 would work unless you are half blind It also depends on the placement of these lights also

If you e-mail Bruce he usually replies within an hour of your e-mail

Looks great! Looks like the reds offer a nice glow. Now it's time for the red sweeping light in front, like "Knight Rider" You know you were thinking about it. Later.
