Security Alarm Systems??

Does anyone know what security alarm system would be best for my '01 Prerunner? I tried ordering the RS3000 from toyotapartssales.com but they replied telling me the product is discontinued. I have search for this item and can't find the base and installation kits at all. Anyone to point me in the right direction would be great. I wanna stay in the 200-300 range as far as pricing and plan on doing the installation myself.

i have a Compustar system on my '99 taco and i love it. i had it installed at a local shop for $275.

heres a link to their site: CompuStar Security

they gave me two different remotes, one long range and one short range...i have the 1W900FM-A and the 1WAM-A

if you can find a dealer around you i highly recommend it

if at all possible get a rs3000 alarm, it just plugs in, unlike those pos aftermarket ones where you have to splice all kinds of wires

Try E-Bay. I just got a brand new rs3200 for my 4runner for $185. Works perfect and it just plugs into the factory harnesses

Email I got back from B. King who works for toyotapartssales.com

"Hi Clint,
Sorry, the factory alarms for the 2001 are no longer available. The
ones meant for other trucks will not work for your vehicle at all, the
electronics are different. If they did work, they would be the same
part number, or superceded to the new part number, but they didn't,
sorry. "

That is the person I bought mine from. Highly recommended. You can read my feedback under her name. Send her an email telling her what you are looking for and she will get it or may have it. Again she was a great seller.

What about a good alarm without the keyless entry deal for those of us with manual locks, and also more vibration sensors rather than "glass" breaking sensor- by the time it gets to that point, thats already $100+ for the broken glass...

I just bought an alarm for my 01 with manual locks today. It is DEI's Python 460HP. It says it has a "DoubleGuard" shock sensor and a bunch of other features. It looks very similiar to the DEI Viper I had for my last car which I liked a lot and scared away at least one thief that I know of. I got it from Circuit City for 100 bucks plus 80 to install it without the keyless entry deal.
something to consider.

the CompuStar system i have is alot like the phyton and viper i guess, it looks a little nicer though, it also has the shock sensor and there is also a sensor under the hood in case someone tries to open that up...like i said before, if you can find a dealer around you that will do it, i recommend the CompuStar system
