Engine Stabilizer for Hoist

I was wondering if anyone had one of these deals that I could borrow for a few days sometime soon. I don't even know exactly what they are called but I think this is close. I'm looking for the deal you would put on an engine and then pick it up with a hoist and this thing allows you to tilt and otherwise manipulate the angle of the engine using a screw deal???

I need one, I think, because the 4.3 and 700 are just so much bigger than all the stock stuff I was hoping I could put them in together and lower them in at an angle like / into the engine compartment and then be able to straigten it all out once the trans tailshaft clears everything. Otherwise, I think I will be standing in the engine compartment pushing down on the trans to get it angled just enough. Either way, I don't think it's really going to be fun, but I'll find out!

If anyone has one that I could borrow, I would really appreciate it.

Or, I might just say to hell with the whole hoist deal and just eat some power bars and lift it in there myself.....

I don't know if this is your DD or not, but if it isn't, I've always just taken the front clip off of my projects when attempting to put engine/trans in at the same time. It's not very hard to do, just a little time consuming finding all the bolts that hold it to the chassis. May be an option?

I found them on Northern's web site for $30 so I'm just going to buy one since I think it will be needed for this installation.
I know that we could probably use all the help we could get that day and I should be able to get it in there in the next few weeks or so. I'll let you know when.

What crossmember are you using for you tcase mount? Bud, Sky, FROF?

Budbuilt, the thing is awesome with the machine work done on it and it's thick as hell too, like about 1/2 inch of steel on the bottom. I need to find one more t case mount for my t cases. I have one, but I need one more off of a later model truck, like a 86+. I could use my stock one, but I hear the later model ones are better so I'm going to have to find one at a junkyard or something.

Sorry, if I am late on this post. We should be able to use the engine hoist that is holding up the waggy Kim gave me for Christmas. If you still can use it, let me know, and I can bring it over.

Thanks man, I have an engine hoist that MNN Taco, Michael Norman, let me borrow from him forever ago (thanks again Micheal) But, I was hoping that someone might have what is actually called an engine stabilizer bar that will allow you to tilt the engine front to back or level it. I need to tilt like crazy the engine and tranny as one peice to put it in the 82. If you have one of those, I could really use it. Let me know. Otherwise, I think it might be a handful of guys on beer and power bars putting that thing in there.

Let me know if you have access to one of those devices.

Thanks Stomper, and no worries at all about your "excellent spoting" no harm no foul. He hit me in just the right place, on top of all the other dents!

Yeah, that's exactly what I need. I found them on one site for like $30 but I think I'm going to try to run by eihter Northern or Harbor Freight and check them out in person so I don't get some rinky dink thing that won't do what I need it to. But, those are it, maybe I should just spring for one, but I'm so cheap!
