No carnage other than the spindle. Actually drove back up competition hill at 70mph before I felt the tire wobble. Didnt pop the tire, break fiberglass or anything. And I wouldnt put 100% of my trust in that 1/8" think gusset.

shorty2305

Mine aren't the standard 1/8" gussets from TC. My old ones were and did little to boost my confidence in their durability.

The build is looking sweet. What are your plans for a front end? My buddy Chris still doesn't have the camburg kit on he has been waiting for extended axels and they have been on back order from the burg for going on two months:eek:. Truck looks good though can't wait to see what you have in store for it.

Yeah they keep giving him the run around. Last he told me they said they get them from TC and TC was out. He never got the parts so he ordered them from the Burg and they are also waiting until they recieve the axels. His truck has just been sitting there waiting for parts.

Hows it do in the sand with 2wd?

Better than most 4x's...as long as you figure out how to drive in sand and know about air pressure its pretty difficult to get stuck, even with a one-legger

I'm about to put a long travel kit on a 2wd 08 Tundra and I'm hoping it performs well. My old 2002 Tacoma Prerunner ran pretty well in the sand but the Tundra is big and heavy in comparison. Hoping the longer wheel base along with the Camburg LT kit will give me what I want.

I'm like 90% sure they are identical. I know that surfpunk (he posts here once in a blue moon) was selling his LT kit with one tacoma spindle with a manual hub, and one that was off a 2wd Tundra. Must be close enough, right? haha

Just leaving the dynamat, headliner is just extra weight. Im actually looking into a truck bed coating. Might work just as good and cheaper.

88 nissan something..ha ha..got it for 100 bucks so who cares!

Ive nevr been to colson canyon during the day and weve been going through there doing 50ish mph...last weekend we stopped to look over the edge and see a 500 foot drop! We slowed down a little after that...

As far as carnage... multiple holes in the oil pan, rolled a bead, e-brake is a little worn out ha ha.

From those pictures, I would say you need WAY more caster in the spindle. If you dont itll handle like shit and youll never keep it straight. If I were you Id also angle the upper box back towards the cab maybe 20-25 degrees.

11-11-2008, 09:11 AM
I think there are some slight differences that keep them from being swapped.

GOT COPE?
11-11-2008, 09:20 AM
Im 90% sure they arent  Think it has to do with where the lower BJ attatches

Well what are the differences?

We know the tundra rotors and calipers can be swapped over to the Taco for better brakes. so they're the same there.

And on some LT kits on the taco dont they use tundra cvs? so Id assume the wheel hub and spline count is the same.

So like you said it comes down to lower and upper ball joints.

Are you sure the LBJ is different? just want to know for my own sake.

Not really yet. Its in his garage right now and we just got the newer version of the tundra kit cut out (its a little wider to push the tires to 90" instead of 88.5" that it is now). Once he gets the pieces hes gonna try to set up his own press to bend the kit and then he'll get into building it some more. Were also looking into a cool 4 link design but it may be a few months before anything is good enough for cad pictures.
