The TN Chapter will be hosting a run at Tellico the weekend of the 17th. For those of you who haven't been, there are trails for all levels of vehicles. We will be camping at Crawfords, so hurry and reserve a site (www.crawfordsattellico.com). Crawfords has water/electricity, a top notch shower facility, and an obstacle course to boot!

Arrive early on Friday to get in some extra trail time. Saturday we'll be riding all day with a cookout and raffle afterwards. Bring your family and friends out for a great weekend of wheeling!

EXTRA INFO: Show up and get a raffle ticket for your chance to win a combo set which includes the following:

- Floor Jack/Jack stands
- 1/2" Impact Wrench, 3/8" Air Ratchet (w/ carrying case and 40 piece accesory kit)

Timberwolf Fabrications and Budbuilt will also have some goodies to add to the raffle. More info to come...

Also, check the SE Tellico thread in this folder and let me know if you'd like a t-shirt and what size you want.

We should have the raffle before we run on Saturday. If we run lower 2 I may need to jack stands to take my new tires off and leave whatever's left in a pile in the woods.

LOL I figured we'd do it Saturday night to try and keep people around, but you make a good point. Too bad I can't win the air tools, or I could use them to wrench on whatever I break :D

Do you think a stock F-150 could make it????

Yes. Just stay away from the mud pit :D

Are you guys going to be out there that Friday afternoon? We should run upper 2 or something. I was also toying with the idea of going white water rafting on the Ocoee that Sunday before heading back to Nashville.

ATLRoach

That might be an option. Yeah will be rolling in around 3 I hope..

The rafting thing is just something I've been wanting to do, but I may be to beat. I'll be there around 2 or 3. I like to take Joel's samurai out to get a feel for it. Depending on how it does, he may ride with our group the next day. Is the king coming out?

Is the king coming out?

More than likely not. The boss has put a damper on his wheeling/money spending. He's going to All Pro and TO.

tenntaco
05-19-2005, 08:40 PM
That's cool. At least he'll be able to make it to TO.

I really wanted to get down there last weekend, but I had to work in Asheville that night and I figured I wouldn't make it up on time. I haven't been out to Tellico this year so I'm really looking forward to it. Come on out. We need more people to run the good chit :D

Also, due to a recent discussion on the TN board, if it will get some people there who never make any of the TN runs, I will lead a stock/less modified group on trails 4,5, and 6. Lets see some of you TN lurkers and web wheelers at this run!

tenntaco
05-23-2005, 11:57 PM
Good idea, Bryan, and thanks for volunteering!

This will be a great opportunity for any of you who are new to offroading to get out and see what your truck is capable of and see what other guys are doing to their rigs. Bryan is an experienced wheeler/spotter so he can definitley show you the ropes without you having to worry about messing up that pretty new truck :D If you're still leary, pm me and I'll find you a seat so you can ride along and check things out to see if it's for you ;)

Update

We will be providing burgers, hot dogs, etc... for dinner at Crawfords Saturday evening. $5 gets you all the food you can eat and a raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $3 a piece. Those who plan on attending, please PM me so we can make sure we have enough to feed everyone.

I'll be there! I'd like to wheel on Friday, if anyone else is up for it. If so, that means I'll be coming up Thursday. Anyone else gonna be able to be there Thursday, or early on Friday? If not, is anyone planning on wheeling on Sunday? Ted and I had talked about possibly doing so.

Here's what I'm seeing as far as headcount:

1. Daniel - tenntaco
2. Daniel - duby
3. Bryan - timberwolf
4. Rick - synovus
5. Ted
6. Brady - tanKoma
7. Rick - tweeder3410 (maybe)

Well right now I'm welded in the rear and it sucks ass. That alone kills the life of your tires more than anything else. So with the tires being around $250 each, I don't want to kill them too fast.

Oh, so are you using this as a DD, too? That makes a big difference. If you welded every other toothe on the spiders I would think it would allow for almost as much slop as a lockright/detroit.

i have some tacoma parts left over from when i did my swap, mainly a complete drum to drum non-trd rear axle, welded, 4.10's, spare 3rd not welded that needs carrier bearings and pinion seal. some front springs, i think one rear leaf pack, maybe a couple ADD spindles, and probably a few things else that im forgetting if anyone wants me to bring them for spares or what ever, ill sell everything above for 150 bucks.

Yeah, the tranny and t-case are my only concerns for when we head to Moab in the fall. Everything else isn't that big of a deal to fix. Duby just picked up a spare 2.7L and everything else under the hood, so we're covered as far as a spare alternator, water pump, etc.... A spare trail rig would be nice, but I need a tow rig so this one can get parked before I can get into all that:)

Welp, just got off the phone with Ernie, and he's already sold that one he got from Zac. He mentioned that the local junkyard has 3 Tacomas right now, and if you want, I can talk to 'em about how much they'd want for one of the racks.

I'll that the third off your hands.

Ted, I just talked to Ernie and he said he's got a pair of ADD spindles. If Zac's got one for ya, I'll get another one for ya from Ernie. If Zac doesn't have one, I'll grab both from Ernie. Sound good?

Yeah, see how much they want and I may see if you can bring me one. The junkyards around here are freakin expensive and it's pretty hard to find taco's.

Thanks!

Nathan and I are from Chattanooga,TN. Also, we have to get our junk mobile again. After thrashing my rig Saturday and Sunday, I am having some issues. I spit out both of my rear shims that go under each block. I am also getting some harsh vibes when I get going over about 15. I think something is either broken or bent. Nathan managed to completely snap his front axle shaft in half. Not at the CV joint, but right in the middle of the shaft. I guess that is what happens when you try and climb a 4 ft. vertical ledge.

This is why you don't do hard wheeling right before a big event! :D The vibes could be from no longer having those shims there. You may also have bent your rear driveshaft. You need to ditch those blocks man... they're evil! ;)

Stay away from the detroit front..They love to explode when you break a shaft but with 30 spline longs you might not have that problem. Plus lockrights are cheaper as in $215 from PORC. PM me if you want a lockright instead.

I am going to put the Detroit in the rear and the spool up front. The reason I wanted the Detroit for the front is because it is welded right now and it is killing my tires when I drive it around town. I had one in my Land Rover and I really liked it. Daniel, I don't know how many we have coming. If the Runner is torn apart then I will just ride with Nathan. If I end up riding with him then there might only be one other person coming. just tell her "well baby if we die atleast we will die together" well wait to you get there to say that though:D , in a side note, the last time i was up there nicks full hydro started messing up, well sonvabitch drove us off the mountian, luckly a tree caught the truck after about 3 foot of sliding sideways down hill. took 4 winches to get the truck back on level ground. this was at the bottom of slickrock. we then decided not to head to guardrail.

 I got pretty sideways at the top of guardrail last summer. It was pretty scary looking over and seeing the side of the mountain. We're running it next week, though, so get ready :D

Ouch!! That guy was way right of where I went up. I think he would've been dangerously off-camber trying to cut back to his left once he got up that section anyway. Hope he wasn't too seriously hurt.

in about 2 mins. my buddy is selling all of his older toyota stuff since he is putting D60s in. here is a list of what he is selling, is in auburn, AL

1 toyota axle straight out of my running rock truggy. $800
- 4 cyl third with 4.88 gears and welded carrier. The
gears I am not sure about brand, but the welding was
done by a proffessional offroad shop.
- Yukon High Nickel alloy birf elim kit. Uses 5- 760 dana
44 ujoints. Only 2 rides on it.
- Marlin high steer arms already on axle
- All seals, bearings, recently gone through in good
shape. Brakes and hubs in good shape. Axle is in
great all around shape, gears in great shape.
- Does not have perches on it. Was used in 3 link
and I will cut off the 3 link brackets.
- Will not part out this axle. Need to sell it whole.

1 4 cyl. 4.88 geared welded carrier third member out of my rear axle. Once again, I dont know the gear brand, but the welding was done by a proffesional offroad shop. Great shape.
$250

1 Complete still in box Yukon High Nickel Alloy birf elim kit. Ordered as a spare for above axle, but I never broke. Same as on Sky Manufacturing Website.
$450

4 used and 1 brand new 16x10 6 lug TR beadlocks in good shape, rock rash from normal use on the 4 used ones. 3 inch back spacing.
$625

4 Mickey Thompson Baja Belted tires. 35x12.5x15. Bought as street tires, but barely used. 90 percent tread, still has some of the little rubber nipples on them to prove little use. Stored in dry place, in great shape. Tires located in Chattanooga, TN.
$400

3 spare Toyota rear shafts out of 1984 toy mini truck axle.
$40 each

3 spare stock Toyota spindles for 1984 mini truck front axle.
$25 each

1 37x13x16 brand new Bogger with every other lug cut out. Was my spare for offroad, but never was used. 100 percent tread. Perfect condition, besides the lugs cut out of course.
$125

I need 4 cheap 8 lug 16x10 in rims and will consider trade or partial trade for above parts.

I have more parts, but I this is enough for now. All parts in Auburn, AL unless otherwise specified. Pics emailed upon request. Phone number is 3343325533. Email is coxwejh@auburn.edu. My name is Hogan. Thanks.

As far as I can tell, it will be Rick, Zac, Riz, and myself hitting the paystation around 11 on Friday. If things go as they normally do, we'll probably be getting back to camp around 7 or 8. If you decide to get out and play around that afternoon, check channel's 10 and 16 on your cb, and you may be able to raise us. If you need a map, check www.tnttora.com.

For those of you arriving that evening, just set up camp and wait to see 4 tacos limping past the obstacle course :( I normally unload in the back left hand corner of the campgrounds, but I'll have to see where Rick and Zac are setup.

We usually have a pretty good time on Friday and Saturday nights, but be forewarned, do not messs with picnic tables, fire pits, etc...

We've got at least a dozen rigs running the technical stuff on Saturday. To make it back for the cookout, we need to leave out of Crawfords failry early. If you are coming up that morning, plan on meeting at the campgrounds by 8 a.m. If anyone needs directions or has questions pm me, and we'll get you taken care of.

Is it Friday, yet? :D

I've got a power/water site reserved, which I believe has 110 & 220 outlets.

FedEx delivered my tires yesterday, but the wheels still haven't arrived. I'm getting a little antsy, because according to the tracking info on UPS' site, their expected delivery date is Thursday, and they usually don't deliver to my apt. complex until around 4 or 5.

Does anyone know if it's possible to call UPS and have them hold a package at their distribution center for pickup, rather than having to wait on them to make their way to my apartment?

LOL She actually handled it very well. She was really impressed with how well everybody worked together and all the help that was offered throughout the weekend.

I can tell you you won't be disappointed with his skid plates. Did you see the one we put on my truck, Friday night? Well, it did it's job. I intentionally tried to bang it a few times, and it did just fine!

Vids is one uh them fancy yotatech thangs. :D You missed a great ride, Chris. We ran your last route on Saturday, up Guardrail (bypassed, for the most part) & Helipad (bypassed by some) then down Schoolbus. Thankfully it was dry this time.

Rick you got some new tires! So you did the bypasses on Guardrail and Helipad and back down schollbus?

Wanna go back on July 22-24 for the All Pro event?

Makin fun of the yotatech vids, huh? See if I take any of you next time! :D :p

Yeah, got me some mudders! LOL Yeah, that's the route we took. I wanted to at least try Heli-pad, but there was a large group of jeeps behind us. Our plan to stop at the top of it to eat lunch while watching them, and then let them continue on, got foiled when they decided to take their own lunch break up there as well. Quite a day that was... I can't do the All-Pro ride. I'm going to the TTORA Takeover at Paragon the following weekend, so I don't need to be risking breaking anything until I get up there. And you know I'm not making fun of those vids!! You know how many friends I've shown those to?!? :D If anything, it makes me want to buy a digi-cam!

Is it safe to assume you're doing the All-Pro ride? Who else? You need to talk Brian into it. I can hear his rig screaming as it becomes more and more of a street queen! :D

So far it's just me, Marc('85 4Runner), and Greg ('95 4Runner), Chris and Andy are maybe's. Oh and the black Taco from the last ride, Brady I think says he's coming. Take plenty of pics at Paragon and video if you can!

I'm not sure yet, but it's possible. If the Colorado move gets canceled by my job, then I'll be there in full force ready to ride it all again.

On 36's maybe?Nope! I'm in a new mindset right now with this move on the verge of happening. If the move doesn't happen, then possibly, but very slim chance, I'd say.
