: 35's vs. 37 MTR's

Need some opinions here. I'm working on a SAS build and have not decided if I'm going with 35's or 37-inch MTR's. Leaning towards the larger. Installing a D44 with some shaft upgrades. Will I be breaking all the time with the 37's. If so, what is the weak link. It'll be set up as a crawler (no romping on the skinny). Thanks for your feedback. - Jason

ps - anyone in the Oregon area with 37x12.50 MTR's for sale

I've had them both, and for a rig i would never run anything smaller than 37's... I love mine, and so far and not broke anything with them *knock knock* i am running yukon shafts and longfield super joints...

I say buildthe axle for 37's

Thanks for advise. How have those Yukon shafts been. I was actually thinking of the exact same build-up. (also w/Yukon ring & pinion and ARB locker).

Been good so far... i have a lock right, i think you will be looking pretty good with the ARB, seeing out you can turn the locker off before you get too bound up and break something....

37s?!!?? with our wheelbases, we should all run 40s! no seriously, i would lean towards 37s. i run ssrs and would never look back. great tire, increases my breakover angle, and my lockrites like them.

I've had 35's since it's been swapped (had some TSL Radials but didn't like em) and am getting my 37's in a couple days. Just for the record, Yunny wheeled over every trail in AZ with no problems and an open front diff. I feel that 37's give you that edge for having clearance under your diffs. Now if you were to ask me if 8" or 10" rims are better, they both have their good sides. 8" rims are practical if you want to do DIY beadlocks but you don't have the width that 10" rims give you. I might keep my 10's, I might get some 8's, we'll see :2cents:

I almost hate to ask this, but what is happening to your fairly new 35's?

Anyone ever actually throw a tape across a 35, then a 37? 35's are more like 34, and 37's are like 37... Same wheel width, both MTR's. How do they get away with that? BTW, I wish I would have got 37's...

LOL, I figured you'd find this. With how much tread is gone, the tires actually measure out to a little over 33" tall  I figured the more miles I put on these tires, the less I'll be able to get for them for new ones. I found a deal on some 37's that I pretty much couldn't pass up so I jumped on 'em. :D I change tires way too much but I'm pretty sure the 37's are staying

the 37's are different than all of the smaller mtr's.... more burly...thicker sidewall, need to air down more for a larger footprint than you would with the 35.... its about 36.x somethng in hieght...its a bit wider.... its a badass tire..i was breezing through things in AZ people with 35 were having issues with...

a fucking huge Super Swamper
Probably something really fucking big to
like at least a 38
yes at least a 38
i might even spring for a 40
fuck
if i get that motivated i might even get a 42
yeh you read that right
a 42
but a 44 would be badass to
oh man...49 inch Iroks....shite
yes..thats read shiiiiiiiiiiiiite
because 49's would be so badass with my stock d44.
i most likely wont be able to fit them on my truck,
but i will be damn if i ever go with something as small as a 37 again
you hear me? you reading this?
real men run at least 38's
yes ball bouncing, hairy chest men run at least 38's

dont be a pussy..you know that d30 is way overbuilt for 52's.....i got this sick ass d20 off ebay for about 650. its got stock axles and stock clearanced u joints...yes thats right...less material on the u joint cross for more flexibility.....

52's are nice...but honestly...i think i can run some 60's.////
