How much does a non selectable hub effect MPG. I know mines never going to be great or even good but im trying for as much as i can. With the planned axle and wheel combo its not looking like an option to run a selectable hub.
The wheels are not available with a hub center big enough and I haven't seen much in the way of fitting selectable hubs to an fzj80.
By going to a manual hub you are only gonna see 1-2 at most MPG increase.

manual hubs are awesome. one of the best things ive done was getting rid of the auto hubs (ADD?). the mpg do increase a little, and the front end just feels more free

I agree that it feels "freer", but I could never show that the manual hubs increased my MPG. There is so much variation tank-to-tank that it would take something pretty big to show as significant.
Some things that would help you greatly Russell:
- Round tires, preferably that don't weigh 1,000 lbs each
- Radial tires
- Tire pressure, especially if you're gonna stick with bias-plys
- Proper gearing so you don't have to floor it all the time - throttle position has much more impact on MPG than RPM.

LOL troy this set of tires is round. I found my shake the other day with the doors off. Passenger control arm bushing.
Either way i cant wait to cut it all off my broken jumble of IFS crap. I am going to a radial soon so that will help. Im thinking 37 inch MTR or Irok radial. I run the tires rock hard now but with gears in the new axles i should be better off. I have accepted it will not get the best MPG but id like to to just not be 8 on the highway. In town i get around 18 cause im not ripping it all over.
