can't get a decent pic up, but other choice is hybrid. square inside round out, and tuck up against the truck a little more.

gotta make a decision by tomorrow. they are on sale till end of month.

what do you all think?

Depends on what you looking for if you need more of a step get the square tube if that is not a concern get round tube they look better and are plenty stout. Also bolt on it will make cleaning them up and repainting thme much easier when they start rusting. You can't go wrong with Demello products not the cheapest but they do very good work:2cents: hope that helps

I would do bolt on. If you don't like the bolts you can always weld them on it is harder to go the other way. As for round or square x2 on what Joe said.

i like the round better but after looking at the square it looks alot easier to make them myself since i don't have a bender. there is a steel place in zanesville that sells DOM and SQ. tubing for fairly reasonable.

i've got a fab guy here in town. he used to weld submarine hulls for the navy. top notch work. but i don't think he can make these for me for less than i can buy & ship demello's. gonna see about having him make me a "budbuilt" S/P though.

what about weight? it's one of my main concerns...the squares are like 70lbs. a side...is that gonna mess with my truck's suspension or handling? i like both designs, but i like the "beef" of the squares...i'm having a hell of a time making a choice.

more help please!!

i don't know what the round weighs but i think the only thing it should affect is maybe performance and mileage.? not sure just trying to help brain storm with ya. i would think the round would be lighter but if it is its not much. i still like the round but i say get what you want. any decision is the right one as far as that goes. the sq. would be nice to stand on if you need to stay out of the mud if you get stuck?

I wouldn’t think either style wouldn’t have much of a impact on performance or mileage. With that 4.0 I think it will take much more than 150lbs to make any difference. Even with my truck and all the weight that has been added and 35’s all it took was a gear swap to get me back to stock performance. And I would think your trucks suspension should be able to handle the add weight of sliders no problem they don’t weight anymore than an adult passenger.:2cents:

i agree 100%, i was just trying to think of at least something to answer his question about weight.

thanks guys. i went with the hybrids. the only thing i might miss about the squares was stated above...the ability to climb back to the bed if neccessary. but i shouldn't need to 'cuz we all know toyotas don't get stuck. :) i think i got a good deal $500 plus shipping. retail is $639. better clearance and lighter weight. if my plans go like i want, i'll be getting some skids, rear bumper, and front bumper in the next couple years, so weight might become an issue. of course if it gets too heavy, i might have to get a 'charger to offset the power loss. :D i think the square might have made a better pivot point though. according to Jack at Demello they are making them today and will be sent out next week for powder coating. should be at home in about 2-1/2 - 3 weeks. they are bolt ons. i know welding them on would be stronger, but the bolt ons should be plenty for me as i'm not ready to conquer moab just yet, and if this series has frame rust problems, i don't want them blaming the weld job. this will wipe out my mod money for a while, but the next piece of steel will be a skid plate or two. might farm that out locally, if not i guess i'll get in line at budbuilt. will post picas of the install when i get 'em.

is a floor lift gonna help with the installation of sliders, or will it just be in the way? it's a driveover type 4 leg.

I would say on the floor with some jackstands and clamps holding sliders would be easist

i'm thinking you're probably right. i was thinking "sweet...i'll just pick it up and work standing up" but after thinking, the lift arms are probably gonna be in the way. i'll have to check it out once the steel gets here. love to stay off my back when i can, and have access to two different lifts, so i use em when i can.

I have to agree I would rather work with truck on a lift than crawling around on the ground anytime.

that the only downside dealing with alot of our sponser small shop that build it as it ordered so it takes a bit longer but the better product is worth the wait.:2cents:

i'm not pissed or anything....just bummed. i still don't have a track # though. i'm sure running a custom fab business ain't easy. either have too many built and ready to ship or not enough. we run out of things at my work a lot of times B/C some products go 2 months w/o a sale and then boom...some guy wipes out your inventory. coincidentally, that's when everyone else comes to buy them and you don't have them. in our case it's b/c the owner doesn't like to carry a large inventory. 9% tax on everything we have on hand at the end of our fiscal year, which is in summer...our busy season.

layin' on the porch when i got home. 'bout 50lbs. each. nice & sturdy. they forgot to send my instalation instructions. one call and they e-mailed them to me right away. gonna tear into them tonight if the garage bay i borrow is availible. pics will be coming....

started installing these on a garage floor last fri. night. ended up finishing on the car lift at work sat. morning. pretty happy with them. real sturdy. nice pretty welds. only b*tch i have is that the front two legs mounting point required drilling directly through a frame weld on both sides that is not even. if i'd had a good step bit, it would've went a lot nicer. anyways here they are:

had to jam my hand in behind this brake line assy.
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg251/speedwayblue/slider1.jpg

there are seven 1/2" grade 8 bolts per side, plus original cross member bolt
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg251/speedwayblue/slider3.jpg

still enough to climb to the bed if needed
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg251/speedwayblue/slider4.jpg
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg251/speedwayblue/slider5.jpg

had to drill six 1/2" holes...all the other bolts used existing frame holes. used a 3/8" drill for pilot holes. now i gotta save for budbuilt's skid set...hopefully, this spring they will be coming.
