I just bought a new 2005 Tacoma double cab. When I asked the parts dept about caps, they said I had to order one when I ordered the truck. He said they are made by SnugTops but he doesn't even have a part number for them. I need one for locking my gear when going camping and also for the dog. What's the deal? Has anyone put a good looking cap on your 2005 with those fancy side bed rails or do they come off somehow for a better fit? Being a newby, this is my first post. Thank you all.

I just got a snugtop supersport for my '05 tacoma access cab. It looks awesome. I went to a canopy store and they told me snugtop was one of the only reliable dealers making canopies for 05 tacomas so far. Supposedly they also had early models of the tacoma to play around with so they could perfect their top. I love it, the inside has a dome light and carpet or whatever the hell it is and it locks. I think it was about 1,800$ w/ install for the top but I got a rack setup also which was extra...Heres some pictures. I think it looks bad ass plus I havent seen any other 05s in my area with one on yet.

Leer (http://www.leer.com) is making a model now for the 05 doublecab - but only the short bed according to their site. Range Rider is making one for the 6 foot box only right now like this:

ARE (http://www.4are.com) is also stating the are making canopies according to their site.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thank you amtbr and mountainpete for your info. It is unfortunate that Snugtops do not have dealers on the east coast. Your pictures of your truck do look fine and that's what I'm after. But, I didn't want to spend the extra $1000.00 for shipping so I ordered a Leer 100r with the Yakama rail track system. They have a manufacturing center in PA. That did it for me. So I'll wait for my top to come in and thanks again for your input. I'll post photos when I can.
