Instead of running down to Cass for Rocktoberfest a group of us are going to go down the weekend before. Since most of us would rather be out on the trails instead of running around chasing the big rigs and watching them break we've decided to do our own thing.
A group of us are posting and emailing everyone around NW Arkansas and seeing who would be interesting in going down and camping the weekend of October 25 -26. Myself and a couple others are going down that Thursday the 23rd and you are more than welcome to come any of those days. Right now we have a group of 9 rigs going so far. If you would please, post or email me back and let me know if you would be interested in coming down and running some trails with us. Honestly, most of us are still on 33s or 35s so we're not going to run the monster hard 5 rated trails. I personally just like a nice and easy 3 or 4 with some things here and there to climb. Afterall, my Rubicon is still a daily driver :D
Thanks,
Brad

So do I need to email you? or do my postings on at least one other board count?
BTW, I'm stoked! I've got at least 1 other rig with me, possibly more.

Yeah, you'll need to spend the next couple of hours tracking all the forums where I've posted. You then must reply to every one in order to come

Cory, you're a stalker... Haha!!
I might be able to make this weekend. I have a friend with a Rockwell'd Early Bronco on 44s that asked me to go to Rocktoberfest, but this might be more of my thang. How soon do you need to know? And I'm assuming it's okay if I come even if I wasn't technically invited???

Technically everyone that wants to come is invited. I really just wanted to have a weekend to have fun and enjoy the scenery on the trails. I love attending Rocktoberfest, I've been 9 years in a row, but this year I just couldn't justify spending the money to spectate. I'd rather be out wheeling. I really don't have to know if your attending all that soon. You could just drop me a line that week as far as I care :kewl:

Every one is welcome. We can try all kinds of trails. FYI, the Rockcrawlers group is having a trail clean up Oct. 4th and 5th so the trails should be free of most debris.

I took a pretty much stock 4runner out there and got through plenty of trails with a little spotting. You shouldn't have any trouble.

That'd be a pretty pricey rollover :D He needs to make some downbars like you see on bulldozers that go from the cab to the front of the frame.

2 Weeks to go... I just called Byrd's campground and they gave me the following info:
Camping = $6 per person per night
Trail use = $10 per vehicle for the entire weekend

Cool sounds like fun. My father-in-law has about 160 acres down there. It is a little bit of a drive for me. It's just South of Pettigrew. I love the area but it takes us like 20 - 25 minutes just to get to Byrds from there. I may even stay at Redding, just depends on what is going on down there that day. Myself and a couple of guys will be heading down on Thursday.
I just wanted to mention to everyone that I, in no way shape or form, want to lead all the trail rides. I honestly have only been on a couple trails through the Nat'l Forest. Most of what I've done is across from Byrds. So if any one wants to lead a trail for the day or even just for a couple of hours I fully invite you to. I really just started this thing up to spend a little time in the Jeep with my son. So the more time we spend shiny side up the better ;)

I'll volunteer myself and Gary to lead some trails (that is, if needed) Between the two of us, we've either ran or walked almost every trail, and have a pretty good grasp of what kind of rig it will take to make it.
Brad, I guess I'm not familar with where Redding is at...

Redding is the USF campground about a mile before you get to Byrds.

Definitely will be cool to get some trail rides goin'. Usually we just swap out leaders every so often..personally i hate being at the back for the whole day. I'm starting to foam at the mouth, can't wait.

Guys, if anyone has a chain saw or other tools needed for tree removal please bring them. I've been told by members of Rockcrawlers4x4 that there are some trees blocking quite a few of the trails. We may need to cut those out in order to pass.
Thanks,
Brad

We can all meet up at 09:00 at the main pavilion around the bathrooms I guess or maybe out in the field. The rockcrawlers group will be lining up in the field by the entrance. I believe they will have quite a few running that day also.
I won't be arriving until Friday afternoon. I hurt my back Monday at a working structure fire in Bentonville. I have a follow-up doctor's visit Friday morning in Lowell. I plan on heading out right after that.
Here's a pic of my Jeep if you want to find me:

Hey guys, sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up that weekend, I didn't get out there till Saturday morning. Even then we spent about 5 hours recovering a jeep that rolled over about four times. So my co-worker talked me into going down this last weekend for r-fest. I think thats the first time I've seen a drunk guy in a two wheel drive express van go mudding...too funny
All in all had fun, just one rollover in our group, no major damage. Check out the pics here, i have a ton of them, still sorting them out.
