SAS in progress on my 98 Taco. Doing a D44 front on spings, ARB, crawler, 37x12.50 MTRs, etc. etc. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
Still questions that are coming up.
We are now considering the shocks. What is preferred for a rock crawler / daily driver (will mostly be on the trail). Leaning strongly towards Bilsteins. Are the extra reservoir types needed (like the 7100's or 9100's) or would a simple 5100 be fine? We also have a line on some cheap Edelbrocks with the side reservoir but it did not seem this were a shock of choice on the board. Thinking 7100's on the front and 5100's on the rear??? Any suggestions on where to buy them? Seems the 7100's are hard to get a hold of.

feels good doesnt it :saw: i just run the 5125's all the way around and they seem to do well, dont have anything to compare it to. may try some BBCS in the rear in future, if coilovers arnt placed all the way around, however they are a long ass shock, 15.5", a shock that can be custom valved would be nice though.

looking good man, I was running 5150s on the front and ranchos, rs9000x on the rear, but bilsteins are so much better so I put the 5125s on the rear now. I would try like zac said the BBCS those are supposed to be really good too.
later.

The big benefit to the 7100's is you can change the valveing if you don't like it?

Some like it raw.... :D
I'm real close to downtown (Irvington). I forgot... someone else mentioned about a small group http://www.chobaka.com. You with a 4-runner and another in a older mini.... I was just out at TSF last Saturday with the WATTORA guys. Tried to get up 7-up. The MTR's don't grip well on the loose dirt. IROX's kicked some butt up it. I'm always up for more wheeling but the local clubs are a little inactive. Got some other mods going on this month so maybe labor day weekend I'll be up for another trip. Other than that, I'll be up with the Cascade Cruisers for their Cruisin the Woods event late September....

Yup, that's our little group! They're all from Hilo, except for me being from Honolulu. I think the rest of our gang was out there on Saturday, but I wasn't able to make it.
Next time you head up, send me an email and I'll see if I can't get the guys to tag along!

Truck looks awesome, Jason! I'd love to have a SAS Taco - but it's only money right???
I see you've now been introduced to my friend Chris. Yup, there's a small bunch of us "Hawaiians" up here in Oregon that like to wheel. I'm heading up to TSF on Sunday with some friends - wanna join us? Email me for details...
