engine knocking

I have a 1994 SR5 ext 4x4 (96,000) miles and it knocks/ticks about 50-70 mph. Is this common or do i need it looked at?

older toys do "rattle and tick" some. but I am not sure when that normally begins.

I have a 97 taco with V6 with almost twice that amount of miles and it does not tick..

My advice would be to check the valves and adjust them.

2.4 or 3.0?
Probably 3.0 but just for clarification

It is probably valve noise, and normal. If it sounds like anything other than valves i would look into it.
