I snagged a pair of tan bucket seats out of a '94 4Runner at the junkyard today. They'll be replacing the bench seat in my li'l truck. They're clean, but not clean enough - there's dust and dirt and other peoples' farts and whatnot in there and it needs to come out. My gf has an upright Bissell steam cleaner, but I don't know if it will reach deep enough. I was thinking of hitting them with the wand at the car wash, but don't know how long the foam would take to dry. What's the best way to deep-clean seats?

I have a recliner that we inherited from my brother in-law. The have cat's I'm super allergic to them and we cleaned it out with the bissell shampooing steam cleaner thingy too WORKED GREAT water was super dirty but I don't get all stuffed up any more. Try it. It takes about 2 days to dry but better that soaking them at the car wash.

X2 on the seat covers, just give it a good cleaning with the bissell and slap some seat covers on them.

I just did a full clean on a PU that I bought. I pulled the whole interior out of the vehicle, but it sounds like the seats are already out. I took a hose and a bucket of water with Tide and OxyClean. I used a plastic scrub brush on the seats. Thet took a few days to dry but they look like new and don't stink.

Good idea BUT I have the answer.....Pressure washer. Seriously! I use laundry soap in a bucket of water...Dump it on there and scrub the hell out of it with a nice brush. Run them over to the car wash of if you plan on being in the area run them by the shop.... If you dont want to use the laundry soap purple power works well but test the color first. Rinse and repeat as needed. I like to use an old ice scraper to dry them out and vacume over them. They will take a while to dry but its worth it...Id rather wait a day or two to install them rather then sit in the PO's who knows what....God knows i wouldnt sit in my seats with out a good cleaning. :D

A power washer will help.
As a general cleaning tip. Great for spot cleaning. WINDEX!

I HATE seat covers. If I was going to run them I would have just grabbed grey seats or something else that didn't match. They're in great shape, with only one small wear spot on the driver's left seat bolster (where mine is worn in the Runner too). I'm about to head back over to the gf's so I'll give the steam cleaner a shot and let them sit in the sun all afternoon. If they don't get clean enough I'll try the pressure washer at the car wash. I didn't think of using an ice scraper to agitate the cloth, that's a good idea. I shall post back with updates!

Pressure washer will work wonders. I grabbed a rear set of grey fold downs for my 4Runner. They must have been sitting in the 4Runner with broken windows for years. They had dirt caked on. Borrowed the in laws pressure washer and went to town in the driveway. I would spot in one spot until the water ran clear and moved to the next spot. Then I left them in the sun for 2 days to fully dry. They are cleaner than the front seats!

The steam cleaner did very well! I wish I'd taken before pictures but I got caught up in the cleaning process and forgot. The brown foam coming back into the cleaner was absolutely gross, and the seats are way cleaner now. They aren't even as tan as I thought they were, but are a little more greyish. Talk about dirty. The seats themselves are awesome - they boost me up an inch or two, enough so it feels identical to my Runner, and of course they have all the adjustable bolsters and lumbar and seat angle. Beats the hell out of a bench, even a 60/40 bench. I'm going to have to drill two holes for each side tomorrow, but that works cuz I discovered my tranny is leaking badly so I'll be under the truck anyway.
Anyone need a brown split bench in good condition for cheap? :D

How cheap? Were about to retire the Msport seats from the big screen area at the shop.
Forgot to ask....are the fart free?

Very cheap. Get them out of my gf's garage ASAP kind of cheap. :D They're mostly fart-free, but I did have to "take possession" of the truck when I bought and that's part of the process, so there are a few. ;)

Pressure washer and your favorite cleaner. Go to a pay as you go car wash and spend 5 minutes on them. Throw them in the back drive home. Throw them in the sun or next to a heater upside down and let them dry.
That is what I have done if my steam cleaner/shampoo-er can't get them out.
