Thanks,

Forget the Ranchos and go with Marlin's springs. They are tuned for Toyota mini trucks and 4 runners. I really like mine on my Taco.

I think I saw a set for sale on the SW board. They will need new bushing but the price looked good.

I can't find it now so just go over there, post up a question and ask. You may get more than one hit. I think a lot of the AZ guys have gotten Marlin springs recently.

Thanks,
I just ordered my Marlin 4" springs a few days ago! weeeeeeeee almost finished collecting stuff
:xrocker: ..........then some more :xrocker: after it's done! :D
I believe you can order the Rancho 44044's from Summit racing,or 4wheelparts

Does Marlin make rear leaf springs also? Used a set of procomp Chevy6" springs with 1 leaf and the overload taken out and still doesn't flex like other Taco's. The Rancho's do a good job so far upfront though. Can order some off of 4WPW.com or I got mine from a guy off of Pirate4x4.com.

Not for Tacos yet.

Mine are pretty harsh sounding anymore as well.. Creaking, popping, groaning. I found its just dirt/dust and junk in between the leaves. Pressure wash it out and all the noises go away - for a little while. As long as I know its just the springs making the noises I ignore it ;)

Yeah I'm sure that all it is. Just bugs the hell out of me. BTW How much am I going to jack my truck up if I run Ruler? :D

How much to you want to jack it up? ;) I have not run it yet, but I think you would be fine. Kirk has run it and he came out unscathed (I believe derek ran it too). Hit up kirk and see what he thinks.
so are you guys getting 4 inches of lift out of these springs? i'm looking for springs as well but don't want to have to run very long shackles to clear 35s.

I have 4 four inch eye to eye shackles and I can clear, flex like a drunk monkey 35s all day long. I only wish that they made rear springs for tacos. I love my Marlins!!!
are you running 63 chevys in the back? what do you not like about them? also, when ordering marlins do you have to specify that its going on a SAS?
Timbuddha

I do have chevys in the rear, and I do like them, but they do not provide enough lift to match the marlins. I am thinking of picking up an aftermarket set to give some more lift. As far as the marlins go, you don't have to tell them they are going on a sased vehicle since they were designed for sased 1st gen and 2nd gen yotas :)
Tim
why not just go 4 link in the rear?! that's idealy what i would like to do, but lack of engineering know how and money will keep me with leafs.

So you are running the 4" Marlin front springs, and a 4" eye to eye shackle? Did you use any additional drop on your front hangers? Thanks.

1.5 inch drop spring hanger in the front. If I had my choice, I would like to lower the truck, but it works fine for now. The springs hold up really well. I was beating on them pretty hard at High Desert Round up, pivoting off of rocks landing the truck on them and so forth. They can take a beating!!
what is the ideal height you have in mind? just the 4 from the springs and 1 or so from the shackles? thanks for the input, your rig is bad ass.

I think that a true 4 inches of lift would be a perfect height, but I am probably running 9 inches of lift or so. I could clear 38s easily.

Hey Tim I forgot to ask you did you put the military wrap on the front? Or did you put the long side foward with the military wrap on the shackles?

Thanks. I am just trying to decide about how much drop I should go with on the front hanger. I am only going to be running 35-36's, and maybe I would step up to 37's. I already plan on running the Marlin springs, cause it sounds like a lot of people are happy with them, so now I just need to figure out my shackle and front hanger.

Lower is better. If I had it to do over, I would have gone with no drop and would have frenched the hanger in to the frame. You might consider Sky Manufacturing's kit. It will work on our trucks.

hmmmm....... I wonder with the military wrap side forward does that keep the axle closer to the firewall? I know with the Ranchos you can reverse the leafs to the short side forward to move your axle forward a bit.
will the Sky Mfct. kit work with Marlin springs? web site says mainly for Waggy springs?

I was told by Chris at Marlin that Mil wrap forward is the way the spring was designed to run. When you get the springs you will see why. There is no wrap on the back of the spring allowing it to seperate to allow for more droop.

Marlin's springs have the same dimensions as waggy springs.

I was looking at their site, but all it talked about was the older gen pickups. I will have to look into it. Thanks.

Right, but they have what is called a "wide axle kit" that places the springs at 31.5in apart which is what we run for out waggy axles. Call up and ask for Sky, he is very cool.
