Ok im kind of rushing into this but.....

Personally Id go for a crawler first.

But to answer your ?, Toy stuff will be fine, but go Diamond.

http://www.diamondaxle.com/front_steering.htm

You'll need the Toy axle anyway for parts.
Spindles, knuckles, hubs, lockouts, etc.
Sell the chunk, and the stock shafts.
Keep the knuckle balls for a discount on the Diamond.

Find and 8" HP w/ or w/o elocker your preference.

And order some longs. ;) http://longfieldsuperaxles.com/

And a lot of other stuff Im failing to mention. Until you really wanna know.

like the other guy's have said, your diff will be on the wrong side with a Toyota axle unless you get a different t-case that points to the passenger side. then you still have all the swap work to do on top of that.

TwistyTaco on the TN board used to have a Taco with a Toy front axle. He had the adapter to use 4cyl mini truck t-cases.
