Since I last posted I have went up to 35's, added rear disc brakes, bobbed 14" out of the bed, broke my low range gear in the stock t-case, bent the rear drive shaft, scratched and dented my 1 week old freshly painted bed, got pissed off, installed an Atlas II t-case, and had Jesse @ High Angle build me a complete new rear drive shaft to match the front one  . And yes, I think my street lock are pretty too - thanks :D "

Trying to climb a wet stair step that I had no business on. I really wasn't bouncing it or anything, it should not have failed as easy as it did - but I also said that about the front IFS pinion shaft that I grenaded, and the weak ass CV joint that I blew, and the rear drive shaft that bent,..... .

Thanks! Just finished my dual t-case swap, I put a stock crawl box in front of my Atlas so I now have 1:1, 2.26:1, 3.8:1, & 8.6:1 which puts my final crawl ratio @ 111:1 + torque convertor reduction. In double low at 4,000 RPM the speedo needle doesn't even move :p . I was also able to pick up 4" of clearance underneath by fabricating my own crossmembers. I was shooting for a flat belly, but the bottom of the crawl box is about 1" below the bottom of the frame rails currently. Once I finished up the floor pan I ended up actually getting close to 2" of clearance between it and the Atlas (currently clocked at about 2 degrees), so I can now simply raise the crossmember/drivetrain up another inch and make the belly completely flat now. Best part is no worrying about the front drive shaft hitting the damn crossmember any more ;) . I've had it up to 80 MPH on the interstate with no vibrations at all, I was sweating this because I kept my 2-piece rear High Angle d-shaft and ended up cutting the upper shaft down to about 14" so it's pretty short! I'm taking it up to Windrock this Saturday to get some trail time prior to the Dixie run @ Tellico next month.

Very nice truck. You've done one awsome job. The bobbed bed looks really clean and the Atlas swap is nice. I think Advance adapters sent me the picures of your truck awhile back. I'm considering puttint the Atlas in my '05 Tacoma SAS project and they said that there was someone who did the Tundra swap. Must have been you.

Thanks, yeah that has to be mine. It's been a long haul for one person to accomplish, I started last December 16th and completed everything that I wanted to just last night - now I'm already getting bored so maybe I need to whip out the old :saw: :welder: :D ! If you come across any questions during your swap let me know if I can help out in any way, I pretty much had to figure out all of the electronics on my own with a little help in bits and pieces from various people. You will want to talk to Brian (ext. 617) on the sales side and Jeff (ext. 527) on engineering issues when dealing with AA, those two guys are awsome to work with. I still owe them a formal install write up and a disc with all of my fab pictures, but they already have all of the electrical info I came up with on hand.

You've done a very good job. Thanks for the help, I'm sure we'll need it. As it is right now we'll need to figure out how to read the speed because we're using Currie Rock Jock 60 axles front and rear and the '05 taco's are completely fly by wire and the speed is read from all four wheels. We may get lucky and we may be able to pick it up at the front wheels since the 1Ton knuckles we are using are F-450 knuckles from Currie and they have a speed sensor. Sure the sound ring may not be the same, but at least we may get a reading. Or we'll have to figure out how to read it from the rear of the transfer case. Swaps are sooo much fun.

Your truck absolutley kicks ass. Your work seems clean and top notch, and you did it on a great platform- unique, full size (ish) and a bench seat!

Rock on... :)

Thanks for the compliments, I have definitely poured my heart, soul, and life savings into this biatch :D ! It took me almost exactly one year to complete but it was worth taking the extra time to make sure everything was right. I am going to the Dixie Run in Tellico this weekend to test these dual cases out a little more, hopefully it will drive home on it's own wheels and under it's own power  ! There will be a full article on it in the next issue of the new Toyota 4WD Owners Magazine that will hit all of the little details.

I hate to ask this, but could you possibly give us a run down on the costs of this. I am really interested in what the atlas along with the adapter ran you.

Thanks,
Tim

I am going off of memory here and I also got some deals because I volunteered to be the guinea pig for some of the products but.....

The Atlas 3.8:1 t-case was around $2,000.

The AA adapter was approx. $400 (which I later chopped up to make a crossmember mount out of to support the Atlas behind the Marlin/Inchworm stuff).

The Marlin adapter/coupler shaft was donated from Marlin for helping assist with some coupler shaft design ideas (Thanks Marlin :kewl: !).

Marlin short throw & offset crawl box shifter work was $150.

The Inchworm case was around $250 I believe.

The OTT adapter that couples the Atlas to the crawl box was about $560

Then the WFO billet shifter knobs were about $35 each if I remember correctly.

The Front Range crossmember urethane mounting kit was around $70

I would say I have approx. $100 into the steel and other materials that I used to fab up the main crossmember.

I spend around $200 on all of the skid plates.

Then there's the High Angle Driveline custom D-shafts that I had built/modified - this was around $1k by the time it was all said and done.

Then there were some material cost for the floor board and exhaust mods that I had to do.

Let's see......that's around $4,800 or so.......that hurts about right so I must be close :xcrazy: !

Sounds like Dave may be bumping it back an issue, it's kind of hard to tell what they are doing right now  . He is still asking for additional high resolution pics of it on the trail.
