View Full Version : Web site contributions/donations
As discussed at last meeting, we are updating the main website and switching servers. IN addition the registration for our URL is due.
We need to start collecting donations from our chapter members for all these fees.
Although this is a "free" club, it does take denero to keep it running.
Every one here enjoys what the board has provided over the last few years and unfortunately it is time to ask everyone to give back just a little bit.
It should also be said, that one of the primary requirements of being a chapter of TTORA is that we must have a main website that we maintain. So if we fail to collect enough donations for the website, we will cease to exists.
The more donating members we have the less it hurts on everyone.
the minimum numbers we need are 18 donations of $20 minimum. We need these funds collected before January 1st. Your individual help is appreciated.

how long will this pay it for. just wondering.
It catches us up (we have not taken care of our current server who is an Ohio member) and pays for the next two years, if I remember my notes right.
The next time it won't be so steep, as we won't have any debt to get caught up on.

Oh no, I don't need an explanation. Just tryin to be alittle humerous.
I'll be sending in my payment tomorrow after work, and just let me know how much more I need to send in on next payday the 26th.
wow didnt mean to preach fire and brim stone was just joking about you all disapearing, we had the same issue right when i became Ky President. the Old Ky Website hadnt been payed up in 2 yrs and the host wanted more then we thought was fair. sounds bad, but we found another host, which pissed said host off but the contract wasnt with anyone in the club and we didnt see it fair to pay for something like that. so we found a new home.
Honestly, if I have to contribute more I will. This club, even thought I'm not very active with the runs, is very important to me. I'm sure several of the other InTTORA members feel the same!
Funny thing though, I didn't feel so strongly about InTTORA until you fled to Colorado... So I guess InTTORA has you to thank for my contribution! :D

alright, the domain name has been registered for the next two years. I think next step is hosting and designing?
Okay that is the easy part, the main thing is going to be the design part. Crosby is working on that part, WE have a web hosting company in mind which is where most of the expense is going to be at.
Not to mention i am still waiting on a final bill for the previous balance we carried with our last hosting service.

Im sure I just missed it somewhere but how much do you need and how do I get it to you?
Look at the first couple of post in this thread, (#1 and #9) for details.
Any excess we may obtain will be held in an account so that we may have funds for future needs.

an InTTORA email
InTTORA@gmail.com
and paypal account have been set up. So now we have an official email, and more importantly....a club paypal account. this means the club funds are now completely isolated from anyones personal paypal account (specifically mine).
More specifically this marks progress! the club is evolving hopefully before next year we will have somewhat of a balance going, and have to elect another officer for treasury…in the meantime you are delegated to the task. :D
(did you think about setting up an email account through TTORA? we have access to email accounts on the ttora server if you are a contributing member, which the chapter would also qualify…just a thought and not a big deal)
Crozby85
01-14-2009, 12:11 PM
if we could get TTORA email accounts why dont u set something up bear for all of us
i will need one for website updates/concerns
you and brian should have an official emailalso, even @gmail.com <- is still not official.
not every member is offered one, only the contributing members, and since then, I am not even sure they are used very often. I actually have one now, Bear(at)ttora(dot) org or com (been too long since I checked it)
this is something though we can look into. All I really need to do is just make a few phone calls but I think before that takes place we need to discuss other matters associated with our goals.

When we get InTTORA.org up and running Bear will be able to allocate emails to whoever he wants. I'm pretty sure we'll have unlimited accounts.
Let's see what we get exactly, before we start promising things. ;)

now people want a ttora email...........seriously why?! chances are you already have an email! (as you can tell i think this whole idea of having a ttora email is ludacris)
your purpose is not to ask why, but merely supply.
I actually have not weighed the pros and cons of providing email accounts…it may a topic of discussion at a future meeting or something.
I can see having some "organizational" or "official" email accounts set up for administration purposes, but I tend to agree with you, the fewer email accounts I have the easier it is to check my email. I am pretty good with just having a personal and company email along with the frequent TTORA pm to only check.

thats how i feel. i already have to sift through one account full of legit emails and spam, so why do that with yet another account. I dont see the point, but if thats what they want and we have the time and means to do it then ok.
on soap box
and i WILL ask why, lack of people stopping to ask why leads to needless expenditures of energy, money and other resources.

off soap boxEach person does or does not have their reasons for wanting or not another email account. and again this is a conversation for later. But if someone wants an email account then we may have it available, it definitely won't be manditory, although getting announcements out may be easier. with ttora emails, I would suspect we could send out announcements from the server instead of groups from contact lists
I also like the ability of being able to receive a specific type of email with separated accounts. I have always had at least two email accounts. If having a ttora account will help me stay organized by only having truck/club related emails in that location, then I may be up for another account.
but at this point we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let's get the site built and on the new server before we start handing out the new koopie dolls and such!

fyi: except for domain registration.....we are all paid up til 2013 (my present to INTTORA)
As far as I am aware, we are still waiting on a few items, one being from you (correct me if you sent it directly to Crosby). After that, we need a final proofing and we are set.
domain is paid up for another two years as far as I know of so we should be good on that front.
I'm on hold with Network Solutions right now, have been for a while...
I'll edit this post when I know something.

for everyone that has contributed to the website fund and even for the ones that did not but are wondering what is the progress with the web site.
The latest is Crozby is doing a bang up job modernizing our site and is almost done with his work.
We had the registration for the URL/domain, but there was a mix up with the previous registering company and we are requesting a refund from that company and will be sorting that out for at least a week.
The main issue is that we had the domain registered prior, but in an individuals name, making it impossible for us to administer the site. The prior registration had to completely expire before we can take control. This delay is basically costing us 2 weeks.
In the mean time we have sat up an account with another server company and are merely waiting to resolve the issue mentioned above before moving forward.
brinner

ok got the refund, just point my clicky finger in the right direction.
I believe Joe is working with Eric on this matter for us.
