Hell yea, great day wheelin'...we ended up with two seperate groups floating around. Our group included Stroke, myself, Dustin, Bill Schueller, Barry, Al K. (greenee), Fred (periodically) and Dan Keigher. We had a pretty laid back, leisurely day with alot of shit talkin' and frosty beverages. Fred broke a 14bolt shaft before I even got there on Twisted, we ended up meeting him in the river bed on his way back to the trailer and he assured us that he had it taken care of. We went to DS and blasted through pretty quickly, but Uriel had a fuel filter issue at the very beginning and the other group came through behind us.
Got that all straightened out and headed for Anaconda. First Stroke broke his front driveshaft and then Dan broke his rear driveshaft, so we continued on after getting both of them to the road. We went through LT and didn't have any issues until I decided to drive like a derelict and ended up smoking a seal on my power steering box. We left my junk at the end of LT and I jumped in with Bill to check out Annihilator. Everybody that was left ran the hard line on the first fall (congrats Uriel on knocking that one off the list as well!) and then swung by and grabbed my rig on the way back to the trucks. Great day, thanks to everyone that was there!

Here's a link to some pics for anyone that cares.

Weee good times. The KAH-POW was pretty good when the cv at the t-case end let go on that front shaft. I'm surprised it lasted the dozen or so trails it did considering who made it and how many tries it took them to do so. I'll have it's Steve Austin replacement ready to get some before the New Year. Weee a fun day and fun folks to wheel with.

Was the inner CV ball that came apart?

Well, looked at it a little more today. It actually came apart in a few areas. At the t-case, the cv broke free of the flange. Part of it is still bolted to the t-case out put flange and the other is sorta still with the cv. On the other end, the housing basically fell apart. Kind of hard to explain, but it appears it may have spun itself free which may have bound the shaft causing the grenading of the cv. Hard to say though which, if either, caused the other to fail. Either way, it went bang.

The reason I ask is because mine blew apart at the ball/socket area. Apparently those are supposed to be greased. I didn't know that since there is no zerk. There is however a small little hole that I now pump grease into with a needle. The dirt and debris got onto the socket and created some slop because of wear. Axle drooped out, CV went out of alignment with a load on it, and it exploded. The remaining parts gouged the side of the crawl box.
I have heard this is somewhat common. Most likely though it was that quality piece of work that PR&A produced:rolleyes: I am not a big fan of Oscar and Angry Mike at Az Drivelines, but they have done right by me so far.

I'll crawl under the truck tonight to take off the remaining piece that is still attached and then post up some pics. I was sorta trying to clean up the garage yesterday and didn't feel like crawling under the truck then.

Yet one last time, facts are hard to deny. Like I said, it's kind of hard to tell which happened first. I didn't realize the tube had spun until it pulled apart while lifting it out of the flatbed once home (shown seperated in pics to demonstrate the WTF ! ! factor). As if I haven't said it enough before, fawk Phx Rack & Axle. I won't deal with them ever again, under any circumstances, unless maybe they were to approach me and ask for a solid kick in the nuts. If the fact that I gave them 3 tries to get this one made right when they screwed it up twice prior; and that I PAID them to retube a drive shaft that they made which bent and then bent again the very next time out doesn't say I gave them a fair shake, I don't know what does. Obviously their idea of repeat business is to build something so shitty that the customers come back wanting it to be made right. I'm over it, they had their chance. Phx R&A will never see another dime of mine, and I will do my best to let others know their money will be much better spent elsewhere. I guess I should have went to the local day care and asked the pre-schoolers to make me a better drive shaft out of paper mache and elmers glue.

Jessie and Tom Woods are great, but you might give our boys a try. I need to have a spare made and need to go down there. I could meet up with you and introduce you to them if you don't already know them. I don't carry much weight with them, but I do know those guys.

Yeah, what Mike said. I was getting lined up and had just started to make the climb when it let loose. I first thought an Alloy stub might have gone. When I backed up a few inches the driveshaft fell from the t-case end.

The buggy guy behind me lost his rear driveshaft on the same obstical. They said it litterally fell off the buggy, no tools needed. We didn't see it though as we were headed out.

I've been very happy with JE Reel out of California. Of course you cant go wrong with Tom Woods or High Angle either but I found JE Reel had a quicker turn around and competitive prices.

I gave up on the local driveshaft outfits as well.
