well, my 4Runner is in need of an alignment and set of new rubber, i want get the tires on then have it aligned.

i've been a long time BFG A/T KO guy but since i have to fund the costly tranny rebuilt in few days, my opions are limited to the "cheaper" but NOT less quality ones. i've done a little home work on my own, these Kumho Road Venture A/T KL78 are pretty decent.

are they good on snow and ice like we have here in Indy? what about it on wet pavement? by the way, how much do you guys pay for tire mounting and balance? back in cali i normally bring my wheels and tires to a local shop $10 each to have the new tire mounted and balanced and the old tire disposed.

by the way, i got a quote from Discount Tire Direct for 265/75R16 for $108 each shipped to my door, no tax.

thanks.

I don't really know anything about those tires. The siping looks a little wider than the BFG AT so maybe they will be a tad better in the mud. That being said, I've got BFG AT's on the truck...

I usually pay about $20+/- for mounting and a lifetime balance.

I was in the same situation as you and had to get less expensive tires. I went with the Courser AT2, and as of yet have no regrets.

Be sure to let us know how the Kumho's work out for you if you do get them!

I was going to until I ran into a guy that works at the coal mines down here and he said the only tires they put on their trucks were the Coursers and said they were awesome.

But yeah, 99sr54wd, check out the General AT2's. At TireRack.com they are actually rated by users a little higher then the BFG's.

on tirerack there is the studed Dunlop Radial Rover R/T for $85 each on closeout. it has very aggressive tread.

Shortly after I purchased my truck in 99, I went with an all terrain that was called Baja Wide tracks. It was okay, but I ran them in Texas with no snow or major slickness.

They did not stay on the truck very long, due to me deciding to go more aggressive with both the truck and tire selection so I really don't have much with A/T tires.

But I can say that the normal labor on swapping tires generally is $20 a tire.

I recently took in a couple of my 37''s to have remounted. Simple take the tire off clean wheel and replace rubber, and I was charged I believe 16's a tire. But there was no disposal or changing tire, just take it off and put it back on type of thing.

Where in Indy have you checked for the mounting? there is a little tire shop on Washington, that I had my 37's mounted for $20. I think Discount might charge a little more, but you would have to confirm for yourself.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to find any good info on them. I went by word of mouth from that guy I mentioned above and also the guys at the tire shop. I'm hoping these tires are sleepers, meaning they are great tires but have no advertising, hence the low price.

They did do well at RedBird on New Years, but I'll need to get a couple more runs on them before I can say for sure. They are much better them OEM, but I understand that's not hard to do. :p
