Just wanted to see how everyone in the Arkansas area is enjoying this beautiful winter weather...Personally I think it sucks, I would much rather have snow.

Snow would be better, but regardless, I still wouldn't get out of working from home. Gotta love technology jobs.

Until the power goes out... Half of my area is already in the dark
Yeah, I talked to my brother and he said it was getting pretty slick up there in NW AR.

So I just spent a good two hours out driving around in this crap. It actually isnt all that bad. The sleet we have been getting since about noon actually has really helped cut down on the slickness. Dont get me wrong the conditions are in no way "favorable", but it is way better than last night when it was just freezing rain. Either way I hope all you other ttora members affected are doing well considering.

We ran out of power yesterday at 3. We all bundled up in Weston's room and stayed relatively warm for it being 16 outside. Once the roads cleared up this morning we went over to Ashley's cousin's house. We'll be hanging out here until the power comes back on.

Good luck to you guys.
That's one of my fears... what to do with a baby in an ice storm with no power.

I don't think he even noticed the cold. I had him wrapped up pretty good. When he woke up in the morning, his toes were sweating...

Thanks Cory! Hopefully this is our last ice storm in Fayetteville and we'll never have to take you up on it. But it's nice to know there are people out there to help out.

I really have lost faith in all weathermen.
Good luck to you guys.

My brothers power was out as well and they (5 month old included) spent the night in front of their gas fireplace that has an insert. Luckily, their power is back on now.
I really have lost faith in all weathermen. You and everyone else! Ned Sperme can accurately predict the weather .00001% of the time and gets to keep his job. I think those guys get paid well on top of that. I'm in the wrong line of work. . . .

I was told a long time ago, the only two jobs where you can miss the mark 100% of the time and still keep your job is the army and weathermen.

It's been a rough week. The NE Arkansas / Missouri bootheel areas have been hard hit w/ the Ice Storm 2009. Started Monday night, laying down 1" of ice on all the trees and that's where the story goes bad. Ice accumulation on trees caused extreme damage. Trees fell over, broke half in two, & / or broke tops / limbs out. Electrical poles broke by the hundreds & ice weight caused the wires to snap. I lost power on Monday night & finally got it back Thursday night, I live at edge of town. I bet I burned 1/2 cord of wood in 48 hour period. I can't imagine how it was heating a house w/ just wood all winter long.
Anyway, I heard Paragould would be out of power for another 2 days to 3 weeks. Radio people are talking about mid-Feb. for targets. Haven't heard from our buddy Gittinit . .
And finally . . . a pine tree top fell on my truck. I got pictures to upload tonight, maybe get them on line soon. . . er, after I get the generator re-fueled . . it's a pain when the power goes out.

ive learned to just look at the data they offer and make my own forecast
I'm usually closer than they are

Sorry to hear about your truck and general bad situation there Stacey. :(
I wonder if the mailman is still running? If so, your Jambo shirt should be there any day.

Dang, Aaron, had I known you were out of power, I know some peeps and could help ya out... DANG'T!!!
I was without cable and internet starting Monday night, but I never lost power. I'm one of the few and fortunate in Fayeteville.
This ice storm raped the trees in NWA. U of A cancelled classes Tuesday and Wednesday due to road conditions, and Thursday and Friday due to power outtages, trees down, and the like.
My friend, Joe, from Piggott (close to Paragould / Jonesboro, I think) said they'd be out of power for a week or so. And West Fork's elementary school sign said they'd be back in school on February 16th... I find that hard to believe, but that's what it said. Dunno about that one...
Glad you're all okay!

Our power went out Tuesday and came back on Sunday night some time. We went to Iowa for the weekend. Came back and power was on. Did a lot of ice fishing and drove around on the lakes. 16" of ice on the lakes up there. Good times.

Ya guys it sucked here in gentry too. We lost power tuesday and got it back like friday. I just got phone and net back sunday afternoon but i wasnt home though. We acutally had a tree fall on the house! I got out there and cut it up before it messed anything up but we stayed warm thanks to the wood stove. I have pictures on my camera but i have to find the cable to dl them. Wood is high in supply here i have more to cut than i would like.

What A Fing Mess! This ice storm is the worst weather I have ever had to deal with. We were fortunate though and only lost power for just under a week and cable for 1 1/2weeks and internet for 2.
My inlaws who live in the county still don't have power, and they lost it about 17 days ago. The power cooperatives have been busting tail, but all the easier fixes are done, and the long time consuming jobs are slowly under way. Replacing 10,000 poles down one stretch of highway and draging the electric trucks through the muddy fields with a 4wd tractor, seems like a major headach to me.
God bless everyone still dealing with the power outages.
