It looks like they couldnt make up their mind on which tread pattern to use?

There is a whole thread on the NB about them. I guess the middle tread is for better wet/snow handling. supposedly the sidewalls are much stronger.

Walker Evans was running them in a 40 or 42 at KOH. Still an MTR sidewall...

I thought they had kevlar sidewalls?

Before they had the "tri-gard" durawall sidewall and that was a joke. Mickey Thompson has kevlar tires as well, and how many people are running those? Just saying, it's not gonna be much better. I saw those tires in person last weekend and they looked like a cluster-f of 3 goodyear tires cut and pasted together. Things I definitely would not like is you wouldn't be able to really flip the sidewalls inside to outside to get fresh sidewalls as the tread is open on the outside with sidewall tread and tight on the inside like an A/T.

MTR's kick ass! I would still run MTR's if I had a choice between any DOT tire out there.:2cents:
