View Full Version : Takeover Pre-Run - Sat. March 21st
YotaJosh
03-13-2009, 09:13 AM
When: Saturday, March 21st.
Where: Superlift Park, Hot Springs, AR
A few of us are getting together to plan and prerun some of our trail routes for Takeover in August.
I'm sure of the definite plans yet, but I plan on being at the park around 10 am or so, if not earlier.
There's nothing official or sacred about this trip, so come on out if you want to. We'll be wheeling all day. :kewl:
Any one up for beer and pizza afterwards?

I'm definitely gonna be there, but I don't know what I'll be driving. If I can at least get my steering box mounted, the black truck will be wheelable. It just won't be ideal. There's still a lot to do on it that won't be done. (ext. brake lines, shocks, spring hanger gussets, etc) I may just have to ride with someone... And I'm always up for :xbeer3: and pizza

Yup.. I got in last night. I've been putting off going outside. It looks a little chilly. If you don't have anything else to do, we could check out my steering box placement.

Does Brennan Reid get on here much? I know he'd be a good guy to run with.
Also, I'm available to do a Pre Pre-Run on Friday if anyone wants to go. I'm only doing 4s and mild 5s. I'd like to do Slammer, CanOpener, Hummdinger, Four Fingers, Ultimate, Shaffner's, and other trails on the loop.
Aaron? Michael Faber? You down?

I'd go, but my truck is still down. I'm ready to weld up the steering box mount, but Daniel is working all week. If I find a way to get that done and make a driveshaft, I could probably hit some 4's.

If you are coming, and you plan on doing some trail leading for Takeover, try to take a look at a map before Sat. and pick some of your favorite trails for your trail willingness. I'm going to print some out and get all Kindergarten like with some highlighters. :D

Those trails sound like good ones. :p I was wondering when would be a good time to come down. We (Logan and I) are only staying one night. We could be there friday afternoon, and stay till sat evening. I bet he would like to get out of school early friday too!
I'll give Brendan a call and see if he wants to hit some trails with us. He is rarely on the computer, and I have only seen him on MC like once or twice.
Oh and propane is freaking awesome!!!!!!!! I love it! :D

Don't forget to laminate them! Heck if you laminate them then mark your chosen route with a dry erase marker, you could edit at will while on the trail.

I'd say around 10 am or so. So me and you should probably leave for the park around 9:00 or so.

Holes are drilled. All that's left is the welding. I've really got to learn how to weld. I laid my first beads down the other day.. Not the prettiest I've ever seen. :D

Aaron, if you need some help, call me. I could probably bring my welder over and zip it up for ya. No promises on pretty, but it'll do. Call if you want me to do that. I could swing by tomorrow and get that done.
I'm really set on runnin' those trails. If you haven't seen Snoop yet, try to come. He's really an ugly POS with some tricks up his sleeve :D

I've got two long ass square tubes right now. Gotta cut them so that the 2" tube doesn't bottom out in the 2.5" tube and they don't fall apart on extension.
Daniel's not gonna make it. He's got a side job to do. We got his twin stick put in today, but that's about it. There's still a couple of weekends worth of work on his junk...

WOW youve always had a verry reliable motor. I'm suprised to hear u had troubles. I guess you were due though couse youve been lucky for a while now.
I got times on some good trails and I'm formulating a plan but another run would be nice. If yall could wait till school is out I'd be down for another pre run. This time I'm bringing my rig though. We need to have a family outing, and this just may be it.
Those trails shure are getting nasty. Arron, and Jordan ran slammer last thing sat evening, a challenge I doubt they would have been up to if they knew what I was leading them into. Both came out unscathed. 4 fingers is turning into a hard 4 or a 5. Heck baileys boulders was easier than 4 fingers. I can't wait till it dries up some and traction is more redily avalible.

Sorry to hear about your motor Glen. I guess pushing 4 grand to get up Humdinger did it in. At least you weren't far from Aaron's in laws.
And thanks for the tips and spotting Michael. When you were riding with Jordan, I kept thinking "Michael Jordan" in my head, but I never said it. :p

I must admit, Josh, the red rocket did pretty well :D
Bailey's Boulders, Greg's Rocks... What's next
Pre-run was fun. Rain kinda sucked, but it was still a good wheel. Slammer was definitely a challenge. Aaron peeled off about 1/8" of his tires. Sorry for airing it down to 2 psi, Aaron  If it makes you feel better, I came back to pick up Snoop today and one of his tires was totally flat :D
I'm a huge fan of the loop trails. That's gonna be a solid lineup. I'll lead that group if Michael wants to move on to the 4s and 5s. I'd prefer to stick to the 4s and weak-sauce Bailey's Boulders :D
Looks like tube work is in my near future. Michael, I'll buy the beer, tube, and strippers :D

Don't worry about the tire. I'm pretty sure it was that tire that finally got traction after 30 minutes spinning them. :D It was a great time, even though I've never been more frustrated on a trail. This weekend was definitely the hardest wheeling I've done so far. Thanks for helping break the truck in, and a big thanks to Michael for being a great spotter and putting up with me all day. ;)

Not to brag, but I think what finally did it was when I pushed against your bed and put your rear tires in a different spot. Sometimes it's the simple things. After that warm up, I think you could've stuck to Ingrid's and crawled it. Those tires were nice and sticky

"Red Rocket" is fitting after seeing him launch it on Greg's Rock. Ya know Jordan he is on the same trails, with open front, and 33s, as that we wheel.
Hows about you buy the tube, gas, wire, and lunch? Bring it on! A couple of them 4s we ran could have easily been classified a 5, so by sticking to the 4s you may actually be wheeling harder trails than me. :D Its the offcamber lines and probable body damage that makes a 5 ,a 5 in my mind atleast. If you want to lead be my guest. I'd like to try and hang with you if I can.

That's a good deal in my book. I'm all about sticking with you. I'll tail gun most definitely. I'll probably be up to running 5s at that point. I really want to do 'The Loop' trails. Would we wheel Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, or does it just depend on the group? I'm down for at least two of the three.

I plan to wheel all 3 days and get progressivly harder as the weekend goes by with a easier night run. I think those 4s I mapped out accross the street will make good night run trails and we can even hit the overlook to check out the Hot Springs skyline at night for a lil break. I definately want to pre run those trails as I'm not too familiar with them, and I want to be shure they are suitable for a night outing.
Josh
Bigger rubber for shure , but a locker ....i dunno if thats wise without plenty of spares or longs.
All 3 toys in the group were without sliders. I was really suprised to see that. My offer stands, buy the tube, lunch, and some $ for gas and wire for the welder and we'll put something together. We will beat the piss out of the vendor prices. I even have a spare bedroom for ya if you want to stay overnight. Just let me know ahead of time so I can scedule everything.

I ran one of those 4s, and it was no cakewalk. Pre-running is definitely needed. However, that overlook idea is legit.

It may be a little while. I'm pretty much booked every weekend until middle June (yea, don't I sound cool ) Really, I would like to work in your shop and get some pointers. I wouldn't need you to be there all weekend, but I would like to be in your shop most of the weekend to work on the tube. Unless you really are as good with tube as I hope and it just builds itself :D
