After doing all the mods to my truck this winter, it made me realize the old 22r with 223,xxx miles might not make through the summer. So I was wondering if anyone had a good place to buy a long block from. I know the ones with the blue block from CO springs are a scam. The best I have found so far is from www.davezoffroadperformance in CA for $1200 + shipping. I am just going to put a 22r/re in because I just did dual t-cases last summer and don't want to do it all over again if I were to go V6.
I remember reading somewhere that you could put a carburated manifold on an efi head but not the other way around. I would definitely go this route if that's right so I can do efi swap later.

Why not just get an EFI 22RE now while you're at it?
I've heard good things about www.orientengines.com

Budget, budget, and budget. Also, it wouldn't take too long to pull everything out and drop the new set up in. If I went efi, I would have to change a few things and spend some more $. Does anyone else do the wiring harness kit like ORS used to?

There was a lady on Yota tech that bought one of their 3.0's and it didn't last 3 months. They wouldn't replace it either. Some other people chimed in about the same issue.

Link shows several different company's and they all looked sorta shady.

You could always go to Yotayard. If you want I can give them a call since I made friend with one of the guys down there and scored Goose a engine for $350
But then it is likely to be in just as bad a shape as his current engine.

It's actually pretty cheap to rebuild a long block. I did it for 1000.
