Superlift or Pro-Comp
These two lifts are completely different. One of the differences is the Superlift comes with a new front crossmember whereas the Pro-Comp lowers the original crossmember.
What is your thoughts on what kit to get. They both seem to be about the same price. Superlift is just a touch more expensive.
Thanks

or read and answer the questions in this thread....

Looks like OME only goes back to 95.
Downey looks like it is over 2K probably a lot more than I need for my truck.
Fabtech seems like I may want to explore that a little more, but it will change the way the truck rides, and it looks like I will need to buy more components.
Superlift and Pro-Comp are a complete kit for under 1K. And it doesn't seem like it will change the ride.
Looks like more research may be needed.

I think that the superlift has the Lbrackets and the front crossmember all in one piece. while the procomp has the L brackets that bolt onto the stock crossmember. i personally think that the superlift would be better less parts to come loose and move. dependin on how hard you are goin to wheel it. i think the superlift is the same as the skyjacker lift in the front. thats the way i am goin to go when i put in a lift. just seems a little more sturdy to me. in my opinion.

So you are going to go with the Skyjacker versus the Superlift? Why do you prefer the Skyjacker?

they look to be the same in the front but the skyjacker i know for sure you can get the rear lift springs instead of the lift blocks.

Swap is one way to go...
I would do no lift at all. Crank the t-bars and trim the fenders to fit 33's and wheel. Get a locker for the rear and an LS for the front, some sliders and cut or remove the front bumper valance. Drag a rear hitch as a rear "slider."
Bracket lifts = The Debbil. Bad juju for the stress on the frame / IFS components if you plan on anything more than, say, the bypass on Lower Woodpecker... Or you can buy up the half shafts, a-arms, etc. that people are throwing away.
you nevder posted what year you were lifting.
Doesn't matter- listen to Mike.

Forget the lift. In order to fit 33" tires you will need to modify the fender wells a bit. And of course you will have to take a sledge hammer to the foot board area at the cab mount behind the front wheels. Smash that in until it will move no more. Cut the bottom of the front fender in front of and in back of the wheel. Get rid of the panel under the front bumper. And get rid of the end caps on the bumper.
As for the rear? On my 4Runner I folded up the flange at the wheel well and hammered it outward about a half inch.
I have 33's on 8" steelies with 4" back spacing. It will rub under extreme twisting but normal wheeling is fine.
Of course you may be more worried about your paint than I was.
So get this done and deflate to about 9-10 lbs. and you will be surprised where it will get you. ;)

You guys are all hard core.
I am not going to wheel my Toyota. I mean if I go camping I may put it in 4 wheel drive to find seclusion, but I am not going to wheel just to wheel. I used to do it. I have nothing against it. In fact I have retired from it. I like watching all of you younger guys take over now. I just want a moderate lift that looks nice is functional and doesn't hurt my paint.
I am not going to convert to a front leaf spring lift. I can't decide if I want to lower the drive train or raise with springs. I know lowering drivetrain reduces clearance but is easier on components. The question is how ared is it on components with a spring lift.
All of my wheeling experience have been with leaf sprung vehicles such as Yj's and blazers.
I am really new to IFS lifts.
Thanks for all of your input.

I didn't mean to scare you. ha ha I just like the idea of bigger tires and no lift to keep the center of gravity low. Even with an IFS lift you will still have to trim a little at the front cab mount area behind the front wheel. But a lift will get your transfercase higher off the ground. As for which lift will work best for you, I can't give you an answer. My next step is sas.
Whatever you do, I'm sure you will enjoy the benefits over stock height.
Have fun.

Then why lift it at all? All it's going to do is get worse gas mileage, shake, require more maintenance/ more expensive tires and destroy the perfect factory geometry and gearing...

Nothing wrong with a little extra ground clearance.

Then I would crank the t-bars and an AAL in the rear and call it good. That, with a little front inner fender trimming will allow you to run 32X11.5's (or metric equivalent) with ease.
Really, bracket lifts are stupid and fuck up the suspension geometry something fierce. You really will end up hating it. FWIW, I'm not a "young guy" and there is no way I would do one of those disco truck lifts... :D

"You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen
Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the musics high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
Youre in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen
Youre a teaser, you turn em on
Leave them burning and then youre gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
Youre in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance...
You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
